Haloeye Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Alright, so I literally just bought Fallout 4, the basic verison since it's on sale on steam. But now, I was wondering, how do I get it to run on my Mod Manager without it getting in the way of my skyrim stuff? Cause right now I tried to add it, but all my skyrim mods showed up. I was worried that if I tried to launch it with my Skyrim mod profile loaded in it would be a fucking mess. So, long story short, would that be the case or is it safe to launch Fallout 4 even if you have Skyrim mods activated with Mod Manager, if not is there a way to have a clean profile attached to Fallout 4 in mod manager so that I can start modding it fresh and such?
Guest Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 I wouldn't know for MO, but can suggest alternative manager. You can use NMM. It fully and separately supports both, Skyrim and FO4. You can launch both games via NMM by simple changing the game in the manager.

I considered that, but I have heard a lot about how buggy NMM is and I tend to be cautious/paranoid too a fault when I got tinkering with things I don't understand. An bad reviews tend to make me even more suspect.
Guest Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Well, to be honest, most of the rumors are false and eexcessive. But, you can play Skyrim with MO and FO4 with NMM. Some MO users I know, do that. It has better support for FO4 than MO.

But I'll keep the thread open in case someone else has an answer more along the lines of my inquiry.
Guest Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Yeap, sorry, I didn't want to be aggressive in offering my "help" about NMM, just trying to be helpful.. I wish someone will give you the answer and help for MO.

It's not like you came in waving around a torch and NMM book claiming it's superior glory and yada yada. So it's all good. :3
Vivi Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 I use NMM for Skyrim and F4 MO (v2.0.5) for F4. Works like a charm and my Skyrim stuff is safe.
Varithina Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 The current mo2 https://github.com/TanninOne/modorganizer/releases does work but as its still beta you may or may not have problems with it, though it does work for me, which is quite nice as none of the alpha releases of it did. Note its an installer now as well so you need net access to get it to install. It does however have quirks, but what mod manager does not, in my case I get a ctd on either ck or xedit when trying to save edited esp's. I would not at present use the mo2 for anything but fallout 4 though, especially if you have a current working set up with mo from the nexus site.
RitualClarity Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Yes like others mentioned. MO2 is needed for Fallout 4 not the MO that was used for Skyrim. Also you shouldn't be seeing any Skyrim mods if you install fallout 4 in any manager. As for the manager I am using NMM and it works well enough to managed my mods. Only now is the mods getting complex enough that there are conflicts. LOOT helps with that. You need to install the proper version 0.91 + as well as the proper F4SE as well for most mods. Might as well install it right off the bat. NMM has Profiles however I haven't used that for Fallout 4 so I can't comment on it. I can comment on most of the main mods appear to work well with a few glitches (currently) but they can be over come with simple common sense. (like I stated mods now aren't so complex where there are massive conflicts) What will change is the quick visualization of what is conflicting and your ability to hide files and change load orders on the fly. Finally a recent post from ElfPrince on the NMM thread (where you can get some more support on basic function of the mod... less support on Fallout 4) he has a few steps for a glitch with the reinstall option on NMM that might not be working. Follow those. I haven't been able to fully test but that might be the cause of some recent glitches I have been having with the Settlement.
Halstrom Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 NMM works fine for me, I prefered FOMM for NewVegas because I was using it before MO, but the 64bit version of MO for FO4 wasn't ready in time so now I stick with NMM
