Guest Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 i really want to buy it (use to have it on 360) but i read on the Steam page that it is not compatible for windows 7 and up, so would I a windows 8.1 user be able to run it ?
myuhinny Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 From your title you are asking if fallout 3 is compatible with windows 8 I have no clue what is in your post though since I have your color fonts blocked so there is nothing in your post. But to answer your question yes it will run on windows 8 it use to be windows live but when it was discontinued it was changed.
7hrone Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 it works fine I know windows 8 has an issue where there is noticeable mouse lag. aside from that it should run fine (I never tested with windows 8.1)
Halstrom Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Its unknown, I got it working on windows 8 by patching it with a Windows live disabler and some other voodoo, but the next time I installed it couldn't remember what I did and gave up trying. The good news is you don't actually need it to launch if you just want to play it through New Vegas and TTW. TTW will copy the files it needs from your FO3 installation whether it launches ok or not.

TTW is Tale of Two wastelands, it allows you to play the FO3 game using the later NewVegas engine and mods.
SensualLust Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Fallout 3 runs fine for me on Windows 10 so you should be fine.

The major adjantage to the New Vegas engine is FONV Engine and NVSE is more powerful than FO3 Engine and FOSE and it allows you to use Sexout and more complicated mods.

Yes essentially you are pulling all the Fallout3 assets, maps and quests as an extension of FONV running under its later software engine. You just hump on a train in NewVegas and you get off in FO3 and vice versa. TTW has its own website for the latest version. Its pretty easy to port the simple mods like clothing to FONV, but near impossible for the complex ones. Baring in mind there are already ported versions of most FO3 mods for NV.
