Infinite Loading Screen (Requesting Help)

I've decided to grab myself some mods as it's been forever since I last tried modding Skyrim. The first attempt about a year ago was a god awful disaster, and I gave up. This playthrough has been through some rough roads, but I'm not really running into many CTDs. Unfortunately, after playing through 34 hours of the game, and hitting level 24 there is now an issue where I get stuck at an infinite loading screen.

I can load up any part of my playthrough just fine. All the way from 5 to 234, but the instant I try to fast travel or move between "cells" (I believe that is what it is usually referred to as) I'll be presented with a loading screen that seems to go on forever. (7+ minutes of waiting)

Everything worked fine last night. Last night I installed two additional mods and everything ran without a hitch. Played for about 5 hours and then called it a night. This afternoon I was looking at some Nexus mods and installed "No Spinning Death Animation" and "Enhanced Blood Textures". I fired up the game and loaded up my most recent save in Breezehome. I tried to exit the house into Whiterun and met with the ILS. Force closed the game and restarted. Any other saves I tried presented the same issue while fast traveling or exiting/entering interiors.

I deemed it was the cause of the most recently installed mods, and after several tests both of them have been removed but it hasn't solved the issue.

My next thought was that it was caused by the two mods I installed last night, being because I played the game 5 hours nonstop without closing the game once. I've since removed those mods as well after several restarts and testing. I've even tried to load up the save right before I decided to add those two mods last night to no prevail.

I think I've found a temporary solution, and I have no idea why it might work. I decided to load up a save that was 16 hours into my playthrough, and I was level 12. Then I loaded up my most recent save while still in the older one. I was able to exit Breezehome and finally load Whiterun. Entered Breezehome again, to sort through my chest, and exited into Whiterun once more. I haven't done any extensive testing or playing since, because I immediately started typing up this topic.

As a result, I have a few questions I would like to ask.

Has anyone become the victim of a similar situation, and what did you do? (rather than making a new save)

Why did loading up a very old save; followed up by immediately loading my most recent save, potentially fix this?

Does anyone have possible solutions that might prove to be more effective?

Any advice for someone that is new at modding Skyrim? What to be on the lookout for, and how to debug common problems myself.

Any answers would be appreciated.

Your situation is really common with unsafe mod adding and removing.

First: how do you install your mods?

Second, try to clean your save game with a tool (Google is your friend, but also here on LoversLab you will find friends...)

Third, is your infinite loading happening on game start, or only when you fast travel?

K.R.,

I've installed every mod with Nexus Mod Manager.

I can load up any save from my playthrough just fine. However, if I try to enter/exit an interior or fast travel, then I'm stuck with the loading bug.

For sure then is a problem on the save game or in one of the mods you added.

Please provide your Load Order.

And, again, try to clean your save by removing all the forms that are no more valid (and associated scripts.)

Probably NMM left some residual items of a mod you removed.

Or maybe removed some items that are required by a mod you have, but removed because they were overwritten by another mod.

If the save game does not work, try to re-install the active mods in your load order (a few of them every time) by following the Load Order.

That's everything I have activated right now. As you said, I figured it was getting bad with the amount of things I was removing and adding, but I figured as long as it loaded up and I could play, it was fine. I'm not sure why the HighResTexturePacks are unchecked when I have Skyrim HD - 2K Textures - COMPLETE FULL activated.

It also appears that I have some mods activated, but they don't show up in the Plugins section. I'm not sure if that is normal behavior. There are a few mods in this list that I want to get rid of, but I've been worried about, because they are buried beneath all the mods I installed afterwards. I don't use the SOS Addons. At least I don't think I do, because I've never been able to select any options. I also want to get rid of Private Needs Discreet and AmazingFollowerTweaks as I don't use either of them. Although, PND is good for getting free shots on an enemy, because they took the time for a piss break.

Mods are not plugins. A plugin is an esp or esm, and some mods (like the textures) do not provide any.

Your mod list is really small.

i think you can try to re-install the mods (witbhout uninstalling them) from the first to the last.

If any file is missing you will fix the problem.

I might have missed this bit above but did you try this SKSE plugin? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/?

I did have that installed once, when I began looking into things but it didn't make a difference.

I'm now having the issue again today, so I'm going to see if my temporary solution solves the problem again. Thanks for the suggestion though.

UPDATE: My "temporary" solution didn't fix anything, but I do have some new information. I decided to let my PC have a go at loading the game, to see if it was in fact loading, or if it was stuck in an infinite loop. I loaded up my game like normal again, and was trying to exit the basement of the Companion's building. It took approximately 9 minutes for it to load into the dining hall interior. I exited that building into Whiterun, and it took approximately 6 or 7 minutes. (I walked away from my computer for the time being.) I was going to fast travel to another place, but decided I wanted to sell some gear first. So I decided to wait 8 hours for it to become daytime. It took 8minutes 41seconds for it to advance one hour, and the rest followed at a normal pace. It's not an infinite loading screen, but something is definitely wrong. Any possible solutions now?

Again usually there is some bad mod or a bad installation.

The papyrus.log may help to find the cause.

I'm sorry to say, but reinstall mods using "nmm" is a bad idea ... reinstall all mods using "nmm" is worse ...

NMM sometimes not uninstalls all mod files, so , extract the files from those mods that caused the problem somewhere ...one by one ... and see if all mod files were removed from "skse" and "data" folders from game folder ... if they were not ... cut and paste them somewhere ... try again ...

If CTD after that, return the files ...and you have to look for single use files of each mod in "skse" and "data" folders from game folder ...
