Kargrin Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Hi all, I have been trying to convert some outfits from Skyrim to Fallout 4, but im having frequent problems with the error: "At least one vertice does not have any weighting assigned to it". From what i've read about it, bodyslide masks the unweighted mesh and you just need to "paint" it. Does it have something to do with the hdt from skyrim? Do I need to delete some bone on nifskope? It happens with some boots, and even after painting the weight (in the boot mesh) the error persist. How to detect this problem in a mesh? Some convert just fine, others not.
myuhinny Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 No it has to do with not having a bone node close enough to that area to be attached to it. Best thing to do is to export it with the error close outfit studio load it back up and load the nif again hold down CTRL and select all outfit pieces then go to shape - mask weighted vertices. This will make everything a darker color now rotate it around and look for spots that are white those will be the spots that will need to be weight painted. So go to the bone node tab and click on the node closest to the bad spots once you find one weight paint it to that node. If you can't see the bad spot click export then no and the piece that has the bad weight painting will turn white so you will know which piece it is then so start looking for a black spots sometimes a spot will be really small or in a hard to see spot. If you can't find it try weight painting different spots then hitting export to see if the error went away then you will know where it is at. If the boots are below where the feet are normally it will cause nodes not to be attached to spots as they will be too far away.
Vioxsis Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I had this problem a few times, which came as a shock since i had rigged them myself 2 minutes before in max. The first time it happened i went back to max to check, and found they all had weights. So then i imported what i exported to see if it happened on export was the cause and still found none. I just clicked yes in the end, and ignored the error when ever it popped up. If you can't find any unweighted verts, then just push on and try it in game to see if it works/anything looks weird.
myuhinny Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Chances are if you get the unweighted verts errors and you ignore it you are going have to missing mesh in that area and maybe even stretching mesh not sure if you will have other errors as well if you ignore it you won't even be able to load them into nifskope as the screen will be invisible and nothing will appear in the left side of the screen in nifskope. Unless all the bone nodes are gone from the nif then the model will appear in nifskope.
Kargrin Posted June 11, 2016 Author Posted June 11, 2016 Thanks for the replies; So, to ge this right: I i have this problem with a boot, i go to bones > select the feet bones > and paint the weight? I take i need to paint with the strong (red) color, so the boot "notices" the bone? As you see in the image, the feet is painted, should i increase the strenght? *Only the boots are not weighted, theyre all white.
myuhinny Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 You have to click on the boots in the mesh list then click on the bone node tab and click on the different nodes that would be attached to the boots. If the boots are left and right and are not both one mesh you can only select one at a time in the mesh list or only one will change colors. If you select all mesh parts in the mesh list then go to shape - mask weighted vertices everything will look like this. I deleted out the toe node from the one boot and hit export then no and this is what it looks now. The toe is dark which is the bad area and the white areas are the weighted areas.
Kargrin Posted June 12, 2016 Author Posted June 12, 2016 Thanks for the help all. It was probably a problem on my part, but ive found the flux to fix the conversion problem: 1-Export the meshes as .obj 2-Conform to sliders 3-Copy bone weights. Heres the conversion in game:
