Zquad1 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I am sorry if this is in the wrong section to post this But I didn't know what catagory it belongs in... ok I am getting really frustrated with Blender as of late I want to convert some outfits especially Dresses & Panties.... Panties you say?? YES Panties I get really nasty stretching in the groin when using pose animations & I want the crotch to either stay static or have very slight movement when bending & it looks like Bone weight copy isn't going to fix the issue so I am wanting to learn how to weight paint, But damn it I can't find any descent tutorials on how to do this. does ANYONE have a clue on how to do this????? PLEASE!!!! & please don't tell me to start using 3dsmax I have started to use it but I need alot more video tutorial watching to do. but I can zip through a conversion fairly fast in blender 2.49b because I know the program better then 3dsmax.
D_ManXX2 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 & please don't tell me to start using 3dsmax I assume since you posted here in skyrim section it is for skyrim ?? but blender 2.49b is really old and not very user friendly, but if it is for skyrim you will either have to use one of gerra scripts to weightpaint or move too 3dmax. have you tried switching to newer blender ?? it will be allot easier and new options to play with. Gerra scripts can be found here: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/13140-pose-converter-089i-10302014/ No voice but it shows how to do weightpanint in blender 2.49b:
BringtheNoise Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I would say PM Kendo2, Cell, or one of the other Blender users here on LL for help (who knows maybe one of them will look in this thread). Alternative for weight painting in Blender. For the Panties use KGtools - "Mesh Rigger" https://kgtools.org/ - Since they hug the body this tool will work just fine. It is a Python command base program will a small easy to understand GUI. How to (kiss method) Place a copy of Kgtools on a hard drive go to the batch files and double click the "mesh rigger.bat" It should generate a sub folder called "Mesh Rigger". Set up 2 sub folders inside that "template" (where you put your reference body) and "target" (where you put the outfit you want reweighted). (yeah I fogot to put how do... doh) Under file click on "Template" then choose "Select Template Mesh" and select the body you are using as a reference (knowing you it will be either demonfet 0 or demonfet 100). Under file click on "Target Options" then "Target selected meshes only" and then select the outfit you want to paint. Click Ok (bottom Right of GUI) and it will pop up a command window (it will read the mesh from the reference/tempate). It will pop up a second GUI window asking which bones you want to copy (select the bones you want copied and click okay and a second command window will pop up and that is it actually crunching numbers and applying weights to the mesh or meshes). Once it is done there will be a third sub folder under the "Mesh Rigger" folder "Output" in that folder is where the updated (weight painted) nif is located. Note: you can go ahead and create the "Mesh Rigger" sub folder before you even fire up the bat file (but firing up the bat file will create it as long as there are read/write privileges in the folder ... so don't throw it in the program files folder). KGtools is Gerra6's toolset (yep another member here on LL) and it has been around for a while. For the dresses you can adjust the weights in Bodyslide's "Outfit Studio" How to (pretty easy method). Load your nif as an outfit, click on the mesh (in the Top Right panel) you want to tweak the weights on (with it on Meshes). - The mesh should be highlighted in the top Right Panel. Next click on the Bones option in the Top Right panel - the list in the top right panel will now show all of the different bones. Highlight the bone you want to adjust and the weight should show up in a RGB color on the mesh(dark red = highest weight, dark blue = lightest weight, and blank color = not painted) - main Panel on the left on the actual mesh. Left click the area you want to add or adjust the weight paint on - if it was not painted it will go dark blue. You can click and drag the mouse in a small circle on a specific area and it will adjust the weight. Note 0: If you are having issues seeing the bone weights due to the textures being dark then at the top of OS click edit and uncheck enable textures (the mesh should go to a grayish color and your weight paint will be blue to red). Note 1: It should turn from dark shade of blue to a lighter shade of blue thru a couple of shades of green to orange then finally to red. Note 2: You can adjust the size of the brush and intensity of the adjustment in the drop down just above the mesh in the top left just under the menu bar click the down arrow and a couple of options show up. Note 3: To remove weight hold down the alt along with the Left Mouse button. Note 4: hold and do small circles will adjust the weight, or you can click the left mouse button and release and then click again (each click should equal the setting you have the brush intensity set at). Note 5: Never set the intensity to 100% for the brush (unless you are really good at it then do what ever you want). Note 6: The latest version of Bodyslide/Outfit Studio (3.x) should leave "non skeleton" bones in the outfit (like skirt bones or hdt bones). Some of the earlier versions of BS/OS would remove those bones when loading a nif... Blabba has a how to for bodyslide/outfit studio that should cover this in better detail. Me I usually use OS for weight painting cleanup (remove the stray weight paintings from meshes and what not). and Since I don't do Dress (or any that go below the crotch to begin with) I usually just use Mesh rigger to do the weight painting to being with. Also don't forget to run it thru Nifskope for clean up once you are done painting (always a good idea). A couple of simple shots inside Outfit Studio (note: the shirt is from your Blades and Soul school uniform demonfet set....lol).

For the Panties use KGtools - "Mesh Rigger" https://kgtools.org/ - Since they hug the body this tool will work just fine. It is a Python command base program will a small easy to understand GUI. OK I got the Mesh Rigger Portable 32bit as well as the Script version 64bit, I haven't installed the script version yet But when I click on the mesh rigger.bat from the portable version I get a Dos looking window saying Python-portable .exe is not recognised as internal or external command, then it asks to press any key & I get nothing. is there a place this needs to be installed or are there other things I need to get the portable version to work?
BringtheNoise Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Shit I forgot Gerra never fixed that. Download the V.0.89.e and V.0.89.k. Install .89.e then install and overwrite with .89.k (k was an update e was the full build). https://kgtools.org/mesh-rigger/download/ Since I'm on things I forgot... if you do tweak weights in Outfit Studio you will need to export - export nif (that is the save option in OS).
Zquad1 Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 ok Next question for ya buddy, what version do I install? the script version or the portable version? BTW hows things going for ya Bro?? Long time since we've talked..
Zquad1 Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 ok I got this far Under file click on "Template" then choose "Select Template Mesh" and select the body you are using as a reference (knowing you it will be either demonfet 0 or demonfet 100). Under file click on "Target Options" then "Target selected meshes only" and then select the outfit you want to paint. Click Ok (bottom Right of GUI) and it will pop up a command window (it will read the mesh from the reference/tempate). But No Command windows popped up. OR.... do I just click OK because when I do that it processes... then it brings up "Select Bones to Copy" window. Ok Now that I am in the "Select Bones to Copy" Window what bones do I need to copy to keep the stretching from occurring in the groin Here is the panties in question what My "Select Bones to Copy" looks like
BringtheNoise Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I use the portable 32bit version of kgtools.... Lets see: you put a copy of the reference target in the \mesh rigger\template folder? and choose it as the tempate? you put the mesh you want tweaked in the \mesh rigger\target folder? and choose it as the target mesh? Worst case, close it and reopen it and do each step again (with the template and target already in the sub folders). It should go... Click bat file get 2 command windows and the python screen, then shortly after the first gui pops up. set the template, set the target, then click okay (leaving all the buttons at the default settings in the gui). A second dos command window should run where it reads the tempate... once it is done reading the template a second gui window should pop up listing all the bones in the tempate and ask which bones you want to copy over (I usually do all of them). After you select the bones and click okay the last dos command window should open and it will start reading off the vertex data and what not... depending on the size of the mesh and how fast your system is this window can stay up for a little while (like seconds) or for hours if you are batch weight painting hundreds of nifs). Note: I don't know if mesh rigger will blow up if it tries to read a hdt-smp nif (not sure if there is extra data in the nif or not)... But it sounds like it didn't finish reading the template nif (if you never got to the bone list gui that is). And yeah, I've been doing just fine... actually been mucking around with fallout 4 lately (kinda nice to shoot things instead of stab stab stab, blatent magic attack)... be back in an hour (hawaii 5.0 is on)...
Zquad1 Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 I updated my last post Yeah I just got FO4 a couple weeks ago & haven't really modded it yet, I have a CBBE Body & a couple outfits installed But I haven't even gotten around to playing with the nifs yet.
BringtheNoise Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 FO4... SuitDreams CBBE pack, 2Pac4Eva's Skimpy Pack, Shade Assault Armor IV http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9043/? Suit Dream set http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8280/? SA IV http://www.loverslab.com/topic/55152-2pacs-cbbe-skimpy-armor-and-clothing-replacer-now-version-2/ or http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7718/? 2Pac's set Throw in Armor Smith Extended, and the Community keywords pack... along with some other things here and there... Currently I'm using the Sirius armor from HN66's (full body armor, reminds me of an up armored version of the chinese stealth suit from FO3/FNV) - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13572/? There is also DixiePig's Slooty Vault suit, and DX's Courser reworking of it (DP's mesh design with DX's texture design). Oohh yeah Modern Firearms has a tone of weapons in it (pretty much every AR, and AK you can think of along with ACR's, SCAR's, and G36's... okay I'm kind of a gun nut). Plus the HK USP, Desert Eagle, and some other weapons (oh I forgot the Barrett 50). Most of those are over on nexus as well. Playing with the nifs if a little more interesting in FO4. The feet are attached to the main body (doing high heels is going to be a pain in the rump). The cbbe body is a lot more detailed (skyrim cbbe is like 4k vertices, fo4 cbbe is like 21k vertices...so the new one is like 3 times the detail of demonfets 7k vertices). I was hard pressed between staying with CBBE, and going over to Jane Body for FO4. Pro's for JB...is has an ass load of sliders to adjust the shape into all kinds of things (better muscle definition sliders). Con's for JB...not as highly used for armor/clothing mods (but there is a full bodyslide/outfit studio package including a convert from fo4 cbbe to FO4 JB... Probably cause I did that package and sent it to Cell who added it into BS/OS 3). Con's for both cbbe and JB currently.... There is no dismemberment data as of yet so if you blow off a leg or an arm on a female raider/settler/npc then strip them the arm or leg goes back onto the body (kinda funny in its own right). Oh and since you use photoshop you'll probably want to download the updated tools to handle FO4's dds format (3dc compresssion or something can't remember it off the top of my head). Doing normal maps is completely different for FO4 then it is for Skyrim... There is also the damn material file which does half the stuff the nif used to do (why it was moved out of the nif I don't know). Well that is if you plan on getting into making outfit's for FO4 (I wouldn't mind, really I wouldn't). Nifskope 2.x Alpha and 3dmax's Nif import/export tools have been updated to handle FO4 nif's. I am not sure how people that use blender are handling FO4 nif's. For Maya it's usually load the nif in Outfit Studio export as an fbx file type and then import it into maya. Nightasy did 22 or so vid's for using bodyslide and maya for FO4 (he hasn't done the follow ups with the step by step for 3d max though). On U Tube Nightasy is Brain Poof (go figure). Oh and xedit (FO4Edit/ES5Edit) is constantly being updated to work with FO4 esp/esm's.... or you can use the Bethesda's CK (then you'll probably still need to use xedit to clean the esp that the Creation Kit spits out, just like in skyrim, fallout 3, FNV, and oblivion...same shit different day). FO4 does have a better version of havok physic's in it (Havok 2014 vs Skyrim's Havok 2010).... But I've yet to see anyone really take an outfit and work it up with it yet (there was the nami dress or something, it was okay... and there is the ks hairdo's for FO4, but no real really really cool shirts or dress with blowing in the breeze type physic's)... maybe someday. And Bouncing isn't stable yet either... I have no clue who is working on that though (probably gonna need an updated skeleton cause the current test relocates 2 default bones and cause all kinda of strange shit if only a couple of the nif's are update with the bone locations). So yeah a different skelly will probably be needed before we see bouncing boobs, and butts...
Zquad1 Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 WOW!!!! buddy thanks for the great tips on FO4 I'll definitely look into all that... Again Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok what should I do about the weight painting?? I am in the "Select Bones to Copy" Window... What bones do I need to copy to keep the stretching from occurring in the groin Here is the panties in question here is what My "Select Bones to Copy" looks like in mesh rigger.
