Guest Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Does anyone know how to apply face textures to elves (wood, high, and dark elves). Whenever I put my custom face texture in the female folder, it doesn't apply to the elves, only the orc. I am also using the Elven Overhaul, but it still does the same thing even after I uninstall it. Thank you if anyone replies.

Guest Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 I know where to find the folders, it's just that in game there's still a neck seam and it seems that the texture hasn't been applied to it. Also whenever I move the slider for complexion all the way to the right, it changes for the dark elf, but not the other two elves. And there is no neck seam for the orc or the other races.
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 After you have used your texture blender as normal to blend away seams, take all the files from your default (Nord) "female" texture folder, copy them, and paste them into all the various Elven female folders. I also replace my normal maps in the Imperial, Regduard, and Breton female folders with the default blended one, but that's just my own preference. No need to uninstall Ethereal Elves, it's a good mod.
anxietymafia Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Ethereal elven overhaul makes elves use custom normal maps in a different folder than usual \textures\actors\character\female\femalehead_msn.dds. the file path is like this Textures\Actors\Character\Ethereal\Darkelf Textures\Actors\Character\Ethereal\Highelf Textures\Actors\Character\Ethereal\woodelf in there is femalehead_ridged_msn, malehead_msn, femalehead_msn however they should all use the same diffuse map, femalehead.dds which is always located in \textures\actors\character\female\femalehead.dds if your face textures are not applying to certain races, it sounds like another mod is doing it, as you said even without ethereal it does it. (i use ethereal and they use the femalehead.dds) you may want to look in tesedit if you have another mod doing that.
Guest Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 I am using mature skin for UNP, but I checked to see if there was any textures in the folders from that mod, and there wasn't any that I could see. I tried adding the texture and .msn and specular map to all of the elf folders, but still nothing. Is it possible to delete the entire mature skin mod and just use the body textures by putting them in the folders to make that there isn't any hidden face textures? Or is that kind of a waste of time trying to do that? Thank you again.
Guest Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Alrighty, thank you again. There's too many to choose from.

With EEO installed "Textures\Actors\Character\Ethereal\Darkelf " is the file path the game will use to render your Elven facial textures for a Dunmer. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25588/? Comes with an EEO patch. Not sure about many other skin texture mods going out of their way to patch for EEO. I know a lot just tell you to replace EEO's textures with theirs, but doing so gives you one heck of a neck seam sometimes. Texture Blender is good for using say a muscular map with another skin texture. Also you can use a lot of the recent skin textures that have come out for the EEO file paths. Just make sure you use Texture Blend for them to reduce the seam. May not be 100% gone but pretty close to it.
