omgomg11 Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 How do you have the game if you don't have it for Steam? Well i bought it at the store yesterday. and downloaded.. nothing for steam popped up, so i was like whatever. It didnt have a CD key either. Same thing happened when i bought Medieval 2 total war, no CD key but installed fine
Guest Loogie Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Unless you're from Russia, Poland or the Czech Republic, you're lying. So there's two things here. If you're from Russia, Poland or the Czech Republic, there's no way to verify the game cache if the install is messed and you should return to the store and tell them the product is defective. If you have a pirated copy, then it's probably broken and we can't help you.
zippy57 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Fallout New Vegas uses Steam as its DRM. There is no legal version of FNV that does not use Steam. If you're telling me that you have a version that does not use Steam, then you must not have a legal version of FNV. I can't help you. EDIT: Whoa, ninja'd by Loogie! And with better information, too...

If you are not in one of the countries listed, the only legal version of NV is sold on Steam. If you bought it in a box or other packaging, it will have a CD key which CAN ONLY be verified through Steam - the installer works through Steam and it's Steam that asks for the CD key. If you actually bought it and this is what occurred, you need to return it to the store because it is obviously a defective product. If you have a pirated version, we're not going to get high and mighty and label you a thief and run you out on rails and all that jazz. It's just simply that pirated versions of games always have something quirky about them and we won't be able to troubleshoot this. At a guess, you got a copy of the game with a bad heightmap data and other bad data that puts radiation places it does not belong.

KainsChylde Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Exactly. A legit copy through steam will have full access to bugfixes and whatnot as needed. As of the moment I write this you can get base New Vegas for $19.99 and Ultimate Edition for $39.99. If those prices aren't cool with you check back regularly. Steam is constantly having sales, and sometimes you can get stuff for just above free. I seriously mean like $5 or less. I got my base copy of new vegas for $10, and the DLC for $1 each.
Guest Loogie Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Yes, or buying it in complete retail packaging with the Steam logo on it from a store.

Halstrom Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Yeah if you don't hav the lates Steam updfates then the later versions of NVSE won't run, then you can't run the Latest Versions of Sexout. or if they do it's likely to be weird & crashtopia.
