What the hell is this?

 

Hi, Billy Mays here. Have you ever been playing one of the mods on this fantastic website, or another mod from another site, and thought, "My god these lines are ridiculous and full of errors and I can't get immersed in this at all because of the massive disparage between these lines and the lines from the vanilla game,"? No, you say? Well, I certainly have, and being someone who has at least a vague understanding of the English language, I thought that maybe I could offer my services to people struggling with syntax or grammar or translation or pretty much anything really to do with writing dialogue. 

Basically, I'm a stickler for proper grammar and I've got a stick up my ass. I've noticed that a lot of mods (just in general, but especially prominently on this site) lack very well written dialogue and whatnot. That's not to say that all available mods have atrocious grammar, just lots of them. Now, I know that there are very good reasons for this (non-native English speakers making mods in English, normal people with normal lives making mods who don't have times to dot all their Is and cross all their Ts, etc.), but the fact remains that the problem exists, and I for one am often quite bothered by the common grammatical and syntactical mistakes. Maybe nobody else is, and maybe this is totally ridiculous itself, but hey, worth a try. And if anyone actually needs translation help to clean up direct translation of lines, I'm pretty good at guessing what you mean. With the help of Google Translate and context clues, the possibilities of translation are limitless.

 

TL;DR

 

I've got a hard-on for grammar. If you're a modder but you ain't good with English, send me your lines and I'll clean 'em up for you.

No, I'm being serious. As you say, there are a lot of mods that could benefit from some lexical assistance. As something of a stickler for the language myself (insert your own "stickler tip" joke here), I feel your pain.

 

Having said that, and please forgive me for doing this, I feel that I must point out:

I think you may have meant "disparity" and not "disparage" there.

Improper use of punctuation.

Unnecessary pluralization of a noun.

Definitely a tour-de-force in vocabulary but for an international audience you really should use Simplified English (http://www.userlab.com/SE.html). If the point is to have the most people understand what is said with the least difficulty then Simplified English is what you should try for.
