The Manipulator

Recommended Posts

Just installed this. The Racemenu on NPCs is extremely useful to me as I use UUNP (zeroed sliders) as the default body and now I can change NPC body shapes without first having to recruit them into EFF.

I'm trying to get my brain around the outfit management piece though. I have to know the exact spelling of the mod each piece comes from? Obviously I can exit game and look it up, but... was asking.

My slight dilemma is that I've merged a ton of outfit mods into one esp that I simply named OutfitsMerged.esp. I would use that and not the original names, correct?

And.... formID for the outfit? Will the Manipulator look that up if I enter the mod name? Or do I go into something like tes5edit and look up form names for any outfits I want to put in there?

Not sure I'll be using the Harem piece as I use My Home is Your Home,

I think that's it. Going back in to mess around with this.

Thanks! This is ....so far... very nice!

EDIT- Regarding outfits

Ok.... no matter what I do I can't get an outfit saved. I'm obviously doing something wrong. Anyone able to give me a box of clues?

Karl gave a good answer. :)

I'll just add that Manipulator does require the exact mod name (yes the spelling has to be exact). If you merged mods, then use the name of the merged ESP/ESM. Similarly, it requires you specify the FormID correctly, there is no look-up. Easiest is to copy/paste fromTes5Edit or CK.

And yes, editing the JSON directly is faster; just be careful not to make mistakes. ;)

ok... well I edited the json file directly and I see the selections in Manipulator, but if I choose one.... nada. NPC doesn't wear it.

I do know how to edit json files and validate them. If Manipulator sees it, I assume I've entered correctly.

Interestingly, if I choose an outfit, change nothing, and try to save, it tells me it was unable to look it up so didn't save.

So... I'm still not doing this right somewhere.

Sounds like the info supplied isn't correct. Manipulator will not validate the data until it needs to use it. So it will show, but may still be wrong.

Are you removing the first two digits/letters from the form ID? Those are the load order, and therefore cannot be used.

Perhaps post that section of the json file here.

check the console, I think it will say that the outfit id wasn't found.

you also need to select the outfit and hit Set, get the message to close the MCM. You can set an outfit and save the other changes all in one go (iirc outfit first, then save) though the outfit does not save in the file.

Pretty sure I get the "cannot look up" kinda message too, haven't tried that in a long while.

The Harem feature is useful in that your target does not have to be a follower. And you can strip them. MHIYH is a great mod. And I use it a lot myself. But if you see a hot guy, blow him (to the point that he's a friend), and use Harem. I use Studly Farm (also by ffabris as Home). I walk in and there he is, laying by the pool. With all the other hot men.

But MHIYM is useful for micro-managing followers. I use it to assign beds and times to sleep.

My biggest issue is figuring out a way that the men have sex by themselves. Similar to what happens in the Mens Club (also by ffabris). SLEN works, but I have to initiate it.

I am looking at that. It isn't the easiest thing in the world to use. I've also had much more success with [your] House of Men mod than the Men's Club; with adding men and allowing sex. I like the HoM a lot. Great location and fun. I've added a pool out back and and increased the size and width of the rock fence surrounding it. Reminds me of my old Fire Island house.

Besides the sex, of course, my other issue not being able to set HoM or SMC as a home for me and my husband. I know they weren't intended as such. Especially SMC. But I'm in the process of adding a "kids" room to the House (which will never be used, of course).

The other night, a dragon attacked ( a sun dragon - very strong)... And I and my gaggle of men outside (6 of us in total)  by the pool. I brought most with me (followers - I was setting up a sex party back by the pool)  Of course, all the men ran through the gate and started fighting the dragon. It was VERY funny watching 5 butt-naked-hairy man fight alongside Whiterun guards.

(Also presented me with a very good RP opportunity too).

Ahh sex in Skyrim.

Hahaha.... well, I'm really glad you're enjoying the mods! Very nice to hear. :)

SSX isn't simple, no. However, it does pretty much everything except hand you a cum rag after sex. ;)

Frankly, the SSX team could learn a lot from you. The UI for Manipulator is simple, and direct. While the UI for SSX is anything but.

I mean, to set a rule for one person, I should just be able to: 1. click on NPC. 2. Set rule. Simple and done. And setting up a sex party is just almost impossible. It takes several rules (about 15 the way I tried - which didn't work right) and the impact on my game was noticeable. Yes, I could disable Frostfall, iNeeds, Wet&Cold, DD, SLEN, and any other mod that impacts the engine. But I play this game.. it's not just porn for me.

Don't get me wrong, there's tons of sex when I play. But there's also tons of just playing the game.

Anyway, sorry for hijacking this thread. SSX is a stunning achievement. I mean, with it, you can do almost anything. But my god, it's needs to become more usable by us mortals.

The beauty of it all is that there is choice: complex mods for those who want them, simple for those who prefer that. So everyone is happy. :)

Except for those of us who want it all! :)

SSX is adding an easier way to set up group scenes in the next feature release. Probably take another look at it again. I really only want it for that purpose. I want to be able to walk into The Studly Farm, see an orgy going on, and jump in.

How do I create/define an outfit?

read back a page or two... someone asked about that recently. You can also use the search box in the upper right to search the topic for references to outfit. We've discussed it a few times.

I noticed something recently and tried/tested to make sure...  outfits assigned to NPCs are being saved in the JSON, even though the MCM says they are not.

I think I am using version 6.1 while the title here says 6.3 so I'll have to double check that.

Abelone

Alfhild

Synda LLlanith (Dravin's wife, of Dravin's bow)

Reldith (Rorikstead)

Thanks for the info. :) But I now have Skyrim uninstalled, as well as PlayOnLinux. So I won't be doing fixes or improvements anymore.

I think I'll add them (well they are in, but I will fix them now that I know its the persistance flag) in my own appearance overhauls.

Any insight on the outfit saving in json? Did I miss a changelog someplace?

Are you clicking Save after applying the outfit to the NPC? If so, that should save the outfit. Perhaps it just doesn't show in the MCM? Or is it saving even if you don't click Save?

It only saves when I set the outfit and then save, then make a hard save, which isn't the problem.

The MCM has a note at the bottom of the screen though that says outfits aren't saved, so I was confused when I was trying to figure out why some NPCs had the wrong outfit on.

I checked the code; the outfit is definitely saved along with other NPC data. I guess the note is left over from a much older version when outfit info wasn't saved.

I'm using 6.3 and ran into a problem... I was doing fine collecting all the beauties around Skyrim - it got a bit slow inside the house after about 15 or so npcs, but when I got to 21, I can no longer enter the house. Trying to do so results in an infinite load screen - the first I've seen since switching to the OS allocator in Crash Fixes. Of course, I'm using a uunp custom hdt body with custom uunp hdt outfits, so it's possible I'm simply running out of memory. 4GB (the max for a 32-bit app in W64) only goes so far. Has anyone gone beyond 20 with custom bodies/clothes? Is there a way to split the harem between houses? Like I said, it gets slow after the first dozen. It would be nice to maybe limit each place to no more than 8 npcs.

I haven't done that many but I'd be willing to bet its your problem.

You can split harems, there is another button in the MCM to set an individual location for a member and the NPC will walk there. There is also a Bring To Me button IIRC that could speed up the process.

Cool, I didn't notice that...

... plus an option to make them fast travel rather than walk (settings panel in MCM). :)

I did notice that quite some time back... right after I came home to find the latest addition fighting wolves on the way to the home (I use Silverpeak Lodge as my main home for the harem). The other thing I sometimes end up using is the resurrect button - when I'm playing a destruction mage, there tends to be a LOT of collateral damage, so I occasionally wind up having to resurrect an NPC while adding them (can do both at the same time!).

So, looks like my best bet is to split them up, and the mod handles that already. Now I just need a few more places... I think I'll go with a few of skyrimlazz's castles - he makes some good homes. :)

There is a setting in SkyTweak that disables friendly damage and I think a number of follower addons have something similar. Seems required with the low level of follower AI in Skyrim.
