Zaselim Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I have a question, I made my own custom/Original Armor and Textures (its my first time for making an armor for fallout 4, make skyrim armors). So In BSLightingShaderProperty texture paths i added the textures and in the material section i linked the Metal from the material folder (because my armor is metal based) as you can see in the below images. I checked a couple of armors to see what material textures were used for certain armors so i thought i have to select the metal material (BGSM) textures file But in the game the textures i selected are not showing instead it is showing the metal material textures i selected for the material. Also one part is also invisible in the game) The Armor actually looks like this So i am guessing i have to make the material textures file out of my textures as well and i wanna know how? I'll really appreciate the help, Thanks.
prinyo Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 It seems the way it works is - create a new material file and assign it instead of the metal. Download Material Editor: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3635/? Create a new file and add the textures there in the Material tab (relative path starting from after data/textures) I guess you will also need to update the alpha (maybe). Save the file and assign it.
Zaselim Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 Yeah I figured it out by asking in one of the Fallout 4 armor threads, thanks for the reply.
Zaselim Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 I made the materials and added them in the nif file but now i am getting the black texture (not the purple one when no material or textures signed to the nif)
Kargrin Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I made the materials and added them in the nif file but now i am getting the black texture (not the purple one when no material or textures signed to the nif) I had the same problem, its the texture resolution being too high (had to downscale) . Your video card probably cant handle it.

Or do i need to make textures with different way for fallout 4?
zenna11 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Can you upload thos file so i can look into ? maybe i fin what its wrong there
Kargrin Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I know, i know, it´s probably something with the FO4 engine, (happened to me when i converted a skyrim outfit, and when i downscaled the diffuse and normal textures to 1024x1024, it was fixed. ) I have both 2048 and 1024 textures among the armors, maybe its the compression format?
Zaselim Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 Ok i will try making the textures in 1024x1024 and see, how do you make the dds texture file by the way? First i make the textures in adobe photoshop then use gimp to make dds file from the png file with rgb settings with generate mini maps checked.

Its been a while but, i think i saved as bc5 (no mipmaps), using gimp with .dds plugin.

So did the bc5 thing for the dds file. now my textures are visible but it is showing a weird yellow color instead of the black. Now i am sure the issue is with the texture dds files.
Kargrin Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Tried rescaling and not using any compression? Also what kind of textures are you using? Diffusal + normal or something else?

Sorry i wasn't able to reply, i got sick. I am using diffuse and normal textures, i havent checked by rescaling the textures to 1024x1024 and i will try it and let you know. Also i don't use any kind of compression, i just make the full on textures RBG or Alpha RBG.
