morgananinuala Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 So I've been putting together a mesh in nifskope, just copy-pasting some vanilla meshes together to make a serial killer's altar of corpses (been watching too much Hannibal, lmao) and the fucking thing keeps crashing my CK whenever I try to put it in game. Could anyone take a squiz and tell me what's wrong with it? Is there some sort of hard limit as to how many items can be copy pasted into one nif these days? commontablesquare01.nif
myuhinny Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I have no clue as I don't do this kind of mesh work. Are there any errors when you try to add the mesh? Most of the time a box pops up and lists errors/problems hit yes will go to the next one hitting yes to all passes them all. So if the box pops up use the yes instead and note any problems listed to see if they are the problem. For me the only thing I think I have ever had that crashes my CK is when I try to add a outfit and one of the pieces doesn't have any bone nodes.
morgananinuala Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 Nah, there's no bone nodes or anything, and no error warnings. It's just a static mesh made out of copy/pasted vanilla meshes. I add it to the CK, and it promptly crashes. Noo error messages, nothing.
myuhinny Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 It probably means that there is something wrong in the nif either something isn't right or something is missing. What I have no clue. So you will have to wait for someone that knows about static meshes. Though I do have a guess. Does all static meshes in a nif have to have the BSFadeNode tag instead of NiTriStrips or is that just for the scene root one? I know before when I was doing work trying to add a rubber buck to my players body as a outfit piece it would crash the tools till I changed it from BSFadeNode to NiTriStrips but I don't know if a mesh that has many static pieces have to have the BSFadeNode tag or not.
Dillpickle Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I know with ground objects for armour etc,,, you will CTD as soon as you look at them in your inventory if any of the NiTriShapes/NiTriStrips have the same name as the top level BSFadeNode. Try renaming the NiTriStrips with a txt value CommonTableSquare01 to CommonTableSquare01:0 like the others and see if it helps.
morgananinuala Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 ...that did it. Wow. Now that makes no sense, but... IT WORKS!!!!! thankyouthankyouthankyoukhajiitthanksyou!
