Settler in Power Armor

So when my Castle was being raided, I noticed settlers will get inside my power armors, so i spared quite a few power armors for them to use, but so far only 2 of them is using.(I prepared 8 power armors for them)

 

Is there any way to make them get inside?

 

I also noticed when i equipped them with heavy weapons like the mingun and gatling laser, they won't come out of the armor(that's what i want).

Not sure, but I mean you can Speak to him with the Option "I have an Order / I have a Job for you" or something? My Game is in german so.. no plan. Maybe you can click him into the Power Armor.

I would rather have my settler go into power suit then an enemy stealing my suit during one of those raids.   Well defended settler is also good for defense right.

sadly it doesn't work like that, i'd love to do that just like you assign them to resources.

 

i think i can do that if i have the intimidation perk level 3 "When you successfully pacify someone, you can give them specific commands." but i afraid that will make other settlers attack me.

you can't force them to get in, some may enter them during an attack if a fusion core is left in. Though I don't see why you'd want them to use power armour considering settlers allied to you are immortal anyway. typically ballistic weave clothes are enough to get them to the max armour threshold (as most raiders are using pipe weapons) unless they're being hit by explosives.

FYI using intimidation to order them will make them hostile when the ability wears off, I accidentally used it on one of my settlers during a raid :/

I don't mind the settlers taking it so long as they bring it back. I saw Sturges and Ji Long get in a suit each and then get back out when a turrent took out the last raider. Ji Long had Paladin Danse arms when he got out, so I fast travelled away to let his mesh reset.

 

When I got back only one of the suits they were using was there. Someone had nicked my good suit.

It's a good practice to yoink the power core out of the suits before leaving them anywhere.

You could just remove the fusion core from the power armor's inventory into yours so no one get into it. That's what I did.

With companions you can order them in and out of suits by talking to them (fun trivia, companions don't need fusion cores in their suits). As for settlers, have you tried assigning them a suit in build mode like you would harvesting or guard posts?

 

This has me curious, I've gotta try it later.
