Hamguy31 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I wish stealth in fallout was like farcry 3 or like metro 2033, these games have great stealth. fallout stealth is shit. move an inch and the entire complex knows where you are. i wish there was button for a rock like in farcry you can throw to divert the attention of enemy's. i have been in situations where the enemy would just stand there for hours and i would be stuck behind a box or something and the only move i have is to just go out and start shooting. light also means nothing in fallout in metro you can shut it off and become kind of invisible. light is most of the time always on and cant be shot out or turned off. hopefully someone can mod these features in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWGkfpB1xpc

AsariX Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 How to stealth: 1) Train Agility and Sneak 2) Find Black Ops magazines 3) Wear one or two armor pieces that improve stealth or make you invisible while crouched. Shadowed armor pieces help too (most of my stuff is shadowed & deep pocketed, even if I can craft more protective armor pieces) 4) Crouch! 5) Use slomo walk (yes, while crouched!), the toggle is capslock, and it really makes a huge difference. 6) Turn off your headlights/pipboy light 7) Use silencers on your weapons and shoot down searchlights as soon as you can, or find your way to a terminal to turn them off (but if you're really good at stealth, you can get pretty close to even the searchlights without being spotted) 8) Have some patience. Sometimes enemies can indeed get alerted and take a position where they would spot you if you move even an inch. Eventually, they always move away. 9) Keep in mind that high level and legendary enemies have very high perception, and will spot you a lot sooner. 10) Dress up any companions you might bring in shadowed/muffled/stealth gear. Or leave them at home. Often, I find my companion is in a firefight mere meters away from me, while I myself still only have the "caution" warning.
morvo Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 doesn't matter if you dress a companion up in full stealthy gear when they randomly stop sneaking to strut around an babble on about some random crap that you couldn't give two shits about, which then aggro's everything around.... the AI like all beth games is retarded and should never be trusted to do anything more than carry junk for you. I love you Nick, but got damn, you know just how to piss me off ¬.¬

Vyrce Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Cait is also the only companion that doesn't affect your stealth meter. So even if she does derp it wont matter for your sneak-ability (probably not a real word but meh). I gave her a silenced explosive combat shotty myself. Also you may want to consider snealing into areas at night. The light levels do effect dectection, so things like darker nights ect will effect it as well.
Yuni Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I think there's a mod for power armor that makes you invisible when crouched. Pretty sure it's a torso mod. Just called 'Stealth Boy' in the menu I think... also there's paint for it that increases agility.

That kind of defeats the purpose of having a Strength of 11 ("It goes to 11;" sorry, couldn't resist) and receiving a Gatling gun if you get your first suit of PA from the Museum. Best wait to use the Stealth Body mod until you get or make a sniper rifle with a suppressor.
