worksa7 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I upset a modder with a comment about what I thought was a possible bug, but I didn't see someone else already upset him a bit below with a similar issue. So he deleted my comments and blocked me from the file and everything entirely. I wanted to apologize, but I couldn't contact him so I made a new account and left a message explaining myself and apologizing to him for any offense I may have caused. He immediately deletes it and reports me for multiple account abuse, and I get permanently IP banned. I read the rules and it was against them, but I didn't get a warning or chance to correct the mistake or anything. It was a small honest mistake. Man I just wanted to say sorry to the modder, but both him and the nexus seemed to be responding a bit too the extreme. I sent them a genuine, polite, and honest apology/unban request however. We'll see how that goes. I don't like confrontation, I hate upsetting folks, but they have me a bit shaken, makes a guy nervous to post or say anything x_x I just wanted to thank the folks here for not being like that. Everyone I've bumped into here has been incredibly polite and helpful, sorry to vent like this I was just a bit upset and wanted to get it off my chest.
NickNozownik Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Nexus can be quite annoying sometimes. I've never been IP banned there so I don't know if you are unable to download any mods from there, but if you are then you can always download the Tor browser. Edit because I forgot to say something: Tor will automatically connect to any site through several proxies, so it will let you ignore the ip ban. And I never got banned on the Nexus because I've never posted a single comment there
worksa7 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 I could probably still download files via proxy if I wanted to, but I think if you are not registered there is still that download filesize cap so anything with textures or lots of meshes or anything like that would be unavailable. I sent an unban request and made sure it had all the criteria they asked for, and was polite and straightforward; so I am curious to see how that goes. I am a little disappointed though.
NickNozownik Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I think that creating an email and Nexus account through Tor should work perfectly fine.
worksa7 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 I think that creating an email and Nexus account through Tor should work perfectly fine. Thanks for the suggestion. For a few days I think I just wanna stay away from there and chill out and forget about it. Afterwards, I will return and see if they considered the appeal or not and go from there. What I have read though shows they are generally not too receptive to unban requests, but we'll see I suppose.
DoctaSax Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I've seen people get reinstated so considering your tone you have a chance. On the whole though, LL shouldn't be in the business of explaining to people how to circumvent another site's bans, so I'm closing this topic before people chime in with more of that.
