Did anyone notice that Elder Maxson was in Fallout 3?

I think raw AP is the only thing you listed that isn't overwhelmingly, hilariously, overshadowed by perk power.

I only play on normal or easier because the control scheme for lefties is so fucked I have to use a controller, and I find it to be exceedingly difficult to aim with a controller. Doesn't help that my video card is outdated and I get a fair bit of frame lag.

Well duh. Perks are perks, only your character is allowed to have them and they are what make the game easier. I wasn't talking about compared to perk power I was talking about the mechanics of STR v. the rest of the SPECIAL trees.

Yeah, controller makes things difficult. I don't like it. You'd have an even worse time on higher difficulties without constant use of VATS.

In previous games perks were perks. Nice little bonuses, for the most part, that gave you an advantage or allowed you to really specialize in a style of play. All your real power was tied up in SPECIAL and skills. Skills have been removed completely and with them goes half the power SPECIAL provided in the way of skill bonuses.

and all of that was dumped into perks. SPECIAL now provides, for the most part, 'Nice little bonuses'... and gates out access to the real power.

Firstly, his name is Maxson.

And second, not just Maxson being a dick, the whole BoS have always been dicks, tech-hoarding dicks. Except Lyons Brotherhood who actually use their power to protect the people of Capital Wasteland. Funny that, despite bing cut all communication and support from Lost Hills, Lyon's Brotherhood of steel is still considered an Official chapter, but not the outcast, even when there goal is true to the original BoS. This prove that how much Owyn Lyons is respected.

No matter how fancy his words be, it can never justify their action. 3 of 4 factions in FO4 are grey-choice, all have good intention, but questionable methods. But the BoS is the worst of all. If they rule the Commonwealth, this scenario will happen: they will hang Nicky's head on a spike for being a good-guy synth, then they will kill Curie and use her body as research material ( as Danse suggested), use force to take high-tech equipments from the people (as they always do), then they march to Goodneighbor and slaughter everyone there to "purify the Commonwealth from all abominations", they the super mutant next (even the good-guy mutants like Marcus, Fawkes, Lily.... from previous games) and this might lead to a war with the Minutemen - which as we all know are the true good guys of the commonwealth - because they PROTECT PEOPLE and have some sweet laser weapons which considered "high-tech".  Why? Because Maxson and his gangs are delusional, xenophobic and racist. I don't know if they are anything better than Enclave, well maybe, since the BoS only kill everything that isn't HUMAN while the Enclave kill everything that isn't PURE HUMAN..... Oh, and I forgot about Danse - the most loyal member of BoS.

And finally, speaking of power. The most powerful chapter of BoS is the guys who point their middle finger to Lost Hills: The Mid-western Brotherhood of Steel. They were able to achieve such great power because they are not racist/xenophonic. The mid-west bos accept anyone to join their ranks, from human to super mutants, ghouls, even sentient deathclaws and machine legionaires. They do rule harshly in their teritory, but they don't kill people just because they are not human.

The Institute is the new Enclave; the fact they're performing FEV experiments on people makes them just as bad as The Master and the Enclave.

As for Danse; he's a synth. Its possible his loyalty was programmed in. As for "good" Super Mutants/Ghouls;

-The West Coast had plenty of opportunities to eliminate Marcus, even when he became friends with a BoS soldier. Marcus is still alive, and in Jacobstown.

-Fawkes, well, Lyons probably felt he was an asset upon knowledge that he helped the player obtain the G.E.C.K (assuming the Lone Wanderer released Fawkes), and the fact that Fawkes can handle his own again the Enclave also says something.

Lily; if the Brotherhood hasn't eliminated Marcus, I doubt they'll go after Lily.

As for why the Brotherhood wouldn't bother, just look at the Enclave Remnants in New Vegas; I'm sure the Brotherhood, had they spent a bit of time, could find each of the remnants, and kill them all, except for Arcade, since he was never an official participant of the Enclave, and his father having already died before meeting the Courier. Yet, all the Remnants are still alive, and at least three are out in the open, and, assuming you recruit both the BoS and the Remnants to help you defend Hoover Dam for the NCR/Yes Man routes, that would give the Brotherhood another good chance at eliminating the Remnants; a chance the Brotherhood knowingly passes on.

For Curie, she'd only be "killed" by the Brotherhood if she was transferred to a humanoid body. It would be easy to leave her as a Mister Handy/Miss Nanny, as the Brotherhood doesn't seem to have problems with robots that are clearly robots and who do not hide that fact, as they seem eager to let P.A.M into their base, and don't seem to dispose of her. And, not to mention, there's also the Iron Giant that loves to fight Communism that they keep.

[sNIP: BoS likes robots as robots]

TBH, I can almost see an alternate ending where the BoS...

a] Wipes out the Institute

b] "Allies" with the Railroad

c] Starts rounding up all known Gen3 synths in a census and categorising them. Maybe even scanning for them, like vets scan for microchips in pets. "For their own safety."

d] All Gen3 Synths are now declared property of the BoS, to be constantly monitored.

e] Synths are now second class citizens, 'belonging' to the Institute. But as the Institute doesn't have any sort of democracy at a civilian level, it's not like they miss out on voting rights or anything.

f] Synths work as civilians. On farms, producing for the BoS, or as researchers, whatever. They get protected by the BoS as a resource, and maintained as such, but not treated as people.

g] Potentially, Synths can join the BoS as soldiers. But they are still monitored, not trusted. They cannot be promoted past a certain rank.

h] Paladin Danse remains a Paladin, but can never be promoted further.

i] DefinitelyNotCommissar people to monitor the synths?

Synths get to live 'normal lives' as farmers and whatnot, and while they aren't so much SLAVES (unless they decide to be something more, then the boundaries become obvious), they're also definitely not free.

^^^^ That is actually scripted into the game 'IF" you play it right. the only faction being outed is the institute. but there is a certain way you have to do quests to get the result of all three factions remaining intact.

Spoiler video in spoiler.

Personally I would like to see The Lone wandering sole surviving protagonist get revenge on Vault-Tec for the millions who have died at there hands from unexcusable experiments and the millions more that were left out in the open as if nothing other then their fucked up experiments mattered. They are the ones who made it possible for Kellogg to kill your spouse, They created the Super mutants, centaurs and much of the Ghoul population that you now have to endlessly fight to survive. I think they deserve at the very least a DLC if not a game of their own. I think I could find more hate for them then The Institute or The Enclave combined.  With only 45 vaults ever listed as being build throughout all 7 FO games a maximum of 45,000 people could be housed but many of the vaults had far less enter before sealing. there was a 46 vault but it went unfinished. of course one vault had 2000 inhabitants.

So yeah I think Vault-Tec needs it's "nuclear option" .

But again Bethesda said the BoS ending is canon the other ending is just for fun.

Great! Now the Commonwealth is ruled by Enclave 2.0!

This is exactly my though. Maxson is a total dick imo.

I'm fairly certain that Vault-Tec as a company is pretty much done, unless there's something say that the company is still alive and kicking.

Secret Vault: A secret vault dedicated to protect high-members of Vault-Tec Industries and used to research the latest technologies (like electrical laser weapons and instant regeneration) and the Forced Evolutionary Virus. Los Ybanez, Texas Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

The very ones to be held accountable. if they perfected "Instant Regeneration" then there would be a chance they are still alive or at the very least a chance to gain this Instant Regeneration capability. Like in Vault 81 which Curie made the cure for everything known to man. But the one she had was the only one left not yet expired. And depending on the Protagonist it is given to the kid or the protag.

Ok, that makes sense then.

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is considered Non-Canon. And I agree since it was a fucking terrible game.

Sarah Lyons is confirmed killed in action on Proctor Quinlan's terminal.

Kinda shitty in my opinion that she got killed off screen.

Yes, it's sad too. Because the character was very decent, friendly (ok not at first) and had a very good karma like her father. Unlike that dick of Maxson.

Well damn, what I'd like to have seen in a future FO already took place. as it turns out a BoS Initiate along with the Vault dweller destroyed the city of los and the "Secret Vault" so Vault-Tec paid it's dues.

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel ends - With the indications of the Vault Dweller, the Initiate found the city of Los, destroyed the Church of the Lost and come into the Secret Vault. They activate the self-destruct system inside and took the escape monorail leading to an exit in the mountains, causing the destruction of the Attis Army, Los and the Secret Vault, and ending the Texas Expedition of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Anyway it's getting off track. Back to the original. Didn't much care for Maxons fist iteration and don't much like his second. Not much for arrogance so the BoS can KMA. really don't like there whole brow beating to get you to join or call you names if you don't. reminds me of the old "My Dad can kick your dads ass" type of childish arrogance. But I guess there's no chance of there being another Maxon in a future game unless some sod clones his ass and starts another 'Institute'. LOL
