MidbossVyers Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I swear that I'm playing whack-a-mole with these Skyrim glitches, and they're all texture-related. When I was trying to fix my boy gray face bug here: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/22395-wip-skykids-child-races-other-technical-goodies-no-more-armor-patcher-new-cots-r2-race62215/page-105 I turned around to look at Irileth, and I got this: For any particular Skyrim game, if you have no mods affecting something, that thing should just use vanilla assets, correct? For armors, I am using http://nightasymodding.weebly.com/unp---ultra-skimpy-armors.html From what I understand that mod only affects body armor, and there is no apparent issue with body armor. The issue lies with gauntlets and boots, which should not be modded. Also, I'm using Fair Skin Complexion textures with Optimizer Textures, if that helps.
Robert_jj Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I don't havy any information about your system specs nor the steps you already undertook so here is what i think: Maybe you're running out of VRAM. I had the same issues a while ago because i had 2k Textures (for everything) Fair skin complexion and 4K Snow texture, also optimised. Didn't help much so i removed the 2k and 4k overhual. Since then it workes fine again.Â
MidbossVyers Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 So basically, remove FSC? It seems that even with swmas's instructions here: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/46736-minimizing-face-and-body-color-discrepancies-for-low-end-pcs/(save for the tint mask part, I did not seem to use any modded tint masks), my computer cannot handle FSC. However, the reason that I originally downloaded FSC was to get rid of the gray face bug, and it worked. No female character in my game has the gray face bug after I installed FSC. Â I'm afraid that, if I should remove it, while all other textures would be back to normal, my vanilla female NPCs might get gray face bug once more. I would remove FSC as soon as possible, if someone had provided another method to fix gray face bug for vanilla female NPCs (usually, randomly generated ones, like Forsworn and Necromancer enemies).
Robert_jj Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Well, installing mods to fix issues caused by other mods migght not be the best course of actions tough it's convenient. (Sorry, informaton about your system is really lackluster so i give the generic advice: Nuke it and reinstall mods one by one. That's the best you can do. It's often faster than troubleshooting for days, as annoying as it may be. Just keep that in mind.) Â So what i understand so far is you are running on a low-spec machine? Then it's probably not a problem with left enb files, they also cause texture glitches /black/ pink textures). Do you have any other texture mods? If so try to disable them and see if the error is still there.
MidbossVyers Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Installing mods to fix issues caused by other mods? I have UNP Skinny for body, but I have no mods that affect the face, other than FSC, of course. In other words, I got FSC, not to fix a problem with another mod, but apparently, to fixed a vanilla issue (I was getting gray face from female vanilla NPCs). The only ENB related mod that I am running is ENBoost (and whatever it requires to work). In terms of black and pink textures, black textures was the original reason that I installed Optimizer Textures for FSC. Â Pink textures occurred once on one of my clothing mods because one of the texture files was named wrong (nothing to do with VRAM, just wrong file name). As you can probably figure out, because of my computer, I rarely try my luck with texture boosting mods, so the only thing that I got was FSC to fix gray face. Optimizer Textures and ENBoost came as a response to FSC.
Robert_jj Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Yes well sorry i can only poke in the dark, as far as i understood the problem was caused by Skykids since you linked the thread in your initial post. Disable ENBoost and see if you still have the problem. Also VERY IMPORTANT to know: Is this problem on spesific objects (i.e just leather boots/ gauntlets) or is it happening to different objects when you load the save?Â
MidbossVyers Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 I only linked SkyKids because I was getting Gray Face bug on boys. Nothing to do with the problem of this thread. Ironically, I found that I could not simultaneously run ENBoost and http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2581/?so I did disable ENBoost because of that. My saves crashed after I disabled it, so now I tend to keep ENBoost and not use Stuttering Bug Fix. It consistently happens on Irileth's gauntlets and boots, and I always exit out in frustration after seeing it. Also, what's interesting to note is that both my character and Irileth are wearing leather gauntlets and boots, but only Irileth's has the texture bug. Â As I mentioned, I am using SkyKids, and SkyKids does have an armor swap feature that switches out armors for child-sized versions when worn by a child, but this armor swap is only on body armors and clothing. It does not affect gauntlets and boots. As I mentioned, the biggest suspect is FSC, and I would have already removed it if not for my fear of gray faces. Basically, if I remove FSC, I need a substitute solution for gray face bug.
Robert_jj Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 [...]It consistently happens on Irileth's gauntlets and boots, and I always exit out in frustration after seeing it. Also, what's interesting to note is that both my character and Irileth are wearing leather gauntlets and boots, but only Irileth's has the texture bug. [...] Well thats a start. If it happens to the same objects everytime it's most likely not a VRAM/ENB related problem. What happens when you disable Skykids? I suggest trying that so maybe we can pin the problem to this mod. Â Also, if it is not too much effort, try a new game and see if the problem with Ireleth's stuff is there aswell and if it occurs on any other object aside from her. Â And if those steps don't help in anyway, maybe you can provide your mod list?
MidbossVyers Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 This thread has my load order: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/53776-game-crashing-when-starting-new-game/Don't worry. The problem on that thread has already been resolved. I'm just linking the thread for the load order. Obviously, mods that do not use .esp or .esm files, such as texture mods, are not listed.
Robert_jj Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Obviously, mods that do not use .esp or .esm files, such as texture mods, are not listed. But these are the relevant ones(texture mods).  Concerning the grey face problem: SK child replacer / SK playable kids would be my prime suspect. In fact im pretty sure one of them is the problem unless there are other texture mods involved.
MidbossVyers Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Well, all SK playable kids does is make SkyKids playable, and all SK child replacer does is replace vanilla potato head children with SkyKids. Again, I have a gray face bug with boys, but that should be the extent of SkyKids' effects. As I mentioned before, it has an armor swapper that allows body armor to fit children, but to my knowledge, it should not have an effect on gauntlets and boots. As for texture files, I checked the actual file folders, and there was nothing about leather gauntlets and boots. That's why I asked if assets revert to vanilla, if no modded files exist.
Robert_jj Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Okay. Have you tried any of my suggested methods? Deactivating mods for testing is never a bad thing. If you don't want to try that it's fine but otherwise i can't help you anymore. Like is said, my guess is the armor swapper and yes i know you said it is for armor only. Concerning the grey face, it is obviously SK child replacer or Skykids. There you go now deactivate these mods one by one and see if any of the problems diappear.
MidbossVyers Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 Deactivating Fair Skin Texture fixed the leather gauntlets and boots textures. The creator of UNP actually had his own face textures to fix gray face on the UNP download page on the Nexus. Gray face specifically for SkyKids boys was caused by SkyKids, but there will apparently be a fix for that later on.
