Lupar Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Would this be the place to place a question like this? Who knows, we'll see. Anyhow. I've been working on a little player home on and off for.. Maybe around a month now and what I'd want to ask from all of you who read this.. Is, well.. What it says in the title. "Would you download this?". Mostly, I'm making these homes just for myself, but sometimes I do feel like uploading them somewhere. These house mods often start from a simple thought for a minimalistic, convenient homes that do not aim to be massive and breathtaking. Just something neat and small, but somehow.. for some reason.. I just start adding stuff to them and they begin to swell up. Before I do the same thing to this home, I'll just show some screenshots of the interior. Neat seams.
noodles1976 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I'd say upload the mod when you feel it's complete...the thing is that there will always be somebody out there that appreciates the work you've done, and will use your mod. I'd be interested in it because it's minimalistic, simple is good. Not every player home needs to be a massive castle with servants and 100 + rooms, mini-quests and scripted hullabaloo. Looks very promising! N~dles
NickNozownik Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I would give it a try. Especially if there are no mannequins, it's close to a city and potions/ingredients on the shelves can be picked up. At least most of them. I prefer something small and functional over a huge castle with dozens of mannequins, weapon racks and storage chests on every step. So yeah, in my opinion it looks quite good and I would download this mod.
JRCosta Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Hi! First, that balcony/ladder intrigues me; please tell me how do you access it? About the question (would you download it?) only by looking to the screenshots, I would give it a shot and test it - looks cozy, simple and practical. Probably would be a good idea to tell us the world location, list the features, storage available (mannequins, special items placeholders, racks), and if you make a short text about your concept of the place would be a plus. Finally, I sure recommend you to make it available for download if you feel it is done. LL is a very nice place to upload your file and receive feedback and help. Good luck!
Anrakis Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Can you use the ladder to climb upstairs? This is very cool! I like the chest next to the entry. When I travel to my player home I want to get rid of unnecessary stuff in my inventory as quick as possible. A chest near the entry is the best thing for doing this. One proposition though: I'm a big fan of book shelves because I collect as many books as possbile and they look gorgeous in a book shelf. Could you please add some more? And by the way: I would download for sure. This house looks very nice!
Lupar Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Yes, I made the ladder, that leads on the little balcony thingie, as an activator, that teleports the player on the balcony. So, technicly, the ladder works. Sure, htere ain't no fancy animations, but it does it's job relatively well. The whole cabin resides close to Helgen and Southfringe Sanctum, which isn't too far away from Falkreath, either. Currently, liek with all of my projects, I've started to work on a basement, that is accessed from the exterior of the cabin. You know, those.. What is it called.. dammit.. These! .. But less red. Anyhow, yes. The basement would be the place where I could place some creepy mannequins and maybe more storage room. Currently, I've used General Stores for all the storage that this house has.. and after those pictures have been taken, there has been a few changes to the insides, but they're only cosmetic. The walls got a little stony touch to them and a wittle anvil in the corner, so you can actually do some smithing in there, too. But really, getting feedback like this does encourage to finish up a house. Maybe when I'm confident enough with the work I've done on this one, I'll upload it. But for now.. I've got still much work to do. So many plans! .. and so little skill to actually execute those plans. Darn.
Anrakis Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 This is a perfect location for the house. In my current playthrough I'm very often near Falkreath (because of Animal Mansion and Captured Dreams). I personally don't need a celar. I would glady try the house just as it is. The solution for the ladder is perfectly OK. Teleporting the player to the upper floor is a great solution. I don't need any animation (only costs time *g*). So.... if you would release it in it's current state I would download and use it for sure. Thanks in advance for making this. This house is very beautiful.
Lupar Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 For curiosity, I'll give you the cabin in it's current state. The way I usually work on my houses is when I feel like doing it, so the update interval may be a bit slow, but I'll make sure to possibly make a new more "official" thread when I've made some progress. A small cabin home in the mountains, waiting for a new traveler to find the lovely resort. This cabin features quite a bit of room to store your gear in, all neatly divided into their own categories, enchanting and alchemy possibilities and an anvil, if you ever want to smith something to defend your rightfully claimed house! Location on the map: The house requires Dawnguard and Dragonborn, due to assets used from those DLC's. Along with this, General Stores is needed for the storage to work: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18340/? For the future, I'm adding a a basement for more storage area, maybe add a little study/reading room in there as well. A stable, for your little horsies or.. whatever you're riding. drlove33 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I would say yes it looks good and nicely located,so yeah put it out there, this site is a great place to upload things to people are friendly and helpful and will give you feed back just keep in mind if you don't get alot of comments about it that's not a bad thing I have a mod that's been downloaded almost 200 times and only had one person say anything and that was just that it's location was already taken and wouldn't work with mine,so either people like my mod or they don't,but if they don't they haven't been nasty about it.I know on Nexus and steam people will troll you and trash your mod but I have not seen that happen here,so go ahead and let it fly see what the people think!
Anrakis Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Thank you very much for the upload. Already downloaded. Will try it tomorrow. Cheers!
Setekh Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Looks decent, I too prefer these minimal types of dwellings, not a fan of the massive mansions with mannequins and basement forges and all that nonsense. Nice realistic sized withg a couple of weapon racks to mount a few trophies is more than enough for me.
noodles1976 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 What is it called.. dammit.. These! .. But less red. Growing up in the Midwest & dealing with tornadoes and the like, we called these storm cellar doors or just plain old cellar doors Grabbed your mod and going to give it a shakedown when I get some time to play later tonight...got to go grab the General Stores mod, not crazy about adding a scripted mod for play testing though. Guess that's what the save game cleaner is for N~dles
Lupar Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 Well, like all of my projects, this is starting to grow once more. I've decided to add a basement into the building, which contains a study and a little treasure room! If I remember, I shall fix some navmeshes and add the stable.
Anrakis Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I just tried it. Very nice and cozy. I really like it. Just one problem. When I leave the cabin my character drops through the floor of the veranda. Nothing a nice jump could not solve but still a minor nuisance Overall very well made. Thank you very much for uploading this. Will stay in my main characters load order. Actually I'm thinking about starting a new character after trying your mod. A hunter. This would be a very nice starting point and home for a hunter in the wild.
