Alissa Kane Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Yesterday when I went on back on Skyrim (haven't been on in about a month or so) and loaded up my game and everything was fine and working properly. However later that day when i re loaded the game and tried to continue with my save as soon as the save loads up Skyrim crashes. Its not a CTD when loading the game but the saves. This happens for literally all my saves. However I have found that i can start a new game and it loads properly but if I save and try to load the new chara or any old one it still crashes, therefore Skyrim is unplayable. I have not installed any new mods so I think it must be something related to loading save games. Furthermore I don't think its due to corruption as the files are all around 6500kb-8000kb (i have a lot of mods so that's why slightly higher but not corrupted file levels as far as i know). Basically I have no idea why this is happening, its the 1st time its happened in 850 hours and all the other Skyrim forums i found haven't answered this. Thanks for any help or solutions.
myuhinny Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Start game when you get to the load screen open the console with the ~ button and type in coc qasmoke this will transport you to the games testinghall once loaded open the load screen and select the save you want to load and select it and see if it loads that way. CTD trying to load a save is common with skyrim but this usually helps get around that problem.
Alissa Kane Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 No this doesn't do anything. Its not loading one save in particular it all saves. I start new game, go to coc qasmoke and load a save still crashes. I do not think its due to running out of memory or corrupted files. I also resorted to re install Skyrim and try another fix which involves deleting a 2nd skyrim.esm in plugins but i only had one of them ( so not the issue), however still crash on loading save games.
NickNozownik Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Try the Savegame Script Scalpel and remove both unnatached instances and active threads. If it doesn't work then post your load order and papyrus log. Try disabling script heavy mods, run SSS again and then load one of the cleaned saves. If you have the "Action Combat" mod then remove this eldritch monstrosity permanently.
Alissa Kane Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Finally got it after combing through 230 mods, it was the Captured Dreams mod and I assume it was due to the heavy scripting in the mod that would strain the game too much to load. The weird thing was though I hadn't touch it for a while and it worked fine and hadn't changed any mods recently. Thanks for anyone who tried to help
