I switch between Sima Mod and SSAssist Tools. Sima Mod does the same as Facelight, but has ambient light as well so it lights up the surroundings nearby your character. I haven't compared it's brightness to Facelight, so not sure how different they are. SSAssist Tools gives you different colored gems you can place around your scene to get the lighting you want. You also get rings to control the time and the weather.

There is also a mod called Rail Light that also gives you different lighting-tools, but I have no experience with this myself.

Edit: I did a quick comparison. Sima is slightly brighter, but, as mentioned, lights up your surroundings as well.

i finally found the solution using the combination of the two mods

Skyrimgtx's brighter facelight as well as the white diamond gem from SSassist tools

thanks for the help guys

oh and that ring of timecontrol is so convenient as well lol

no longer have to use skyrim's ingame wait feature

Might be just me but I prefer the Default Facelight(the mod).

Too much light feels unnatural on your character.

By the way it may be just me but is your character getting enough sleep? cause she has bags below her eyes :P

i use the default facelight or none at all when im playing through the game

the bright lighting mods i only use for screenshot purposes (in certain environments) otherwise everything just lights up around me and looks awkward xD

and no, i don't allow her to sleep. i be making her pose and model for shoots 24/7 hehe

Geez, let the girl sleep or you are gonna kill her by overworking her :o

We all know that an exhausted model is bad and its the reason most pictures come out bad.

Stop using Facelight. It's a cheap shortcut for lazy people and just looks like there's an invisible flashlight shining in your character's face.

SS Assist tools or clever application of Magelight are what you really want. Much more flexible.

RailLight is the best character lighting mod, it has full body light like race menu, among others. however, the light armors use the same slot as SoS, thus removing your character's schlong, the fix is to modify all RailLight 'armors' in the Creation Kit to use a different armor slot.

Simple Drop Lit Torches is pretty handy for providing filler lighting. You can hotkey drop them in different places and as long as they're not overlapping you can get some quite nice moody effects. It also has the advantage of not being white light which can be kinder in those cosy inn scenes.

I don't often use Mage Light because it can blow out an otherwise quite nicely balanced light/shadow scene when all you want is a little filler to get rid of face gloom. It also causes flickering with some lighting mods.

Facelight has it's place, but I find you have to have at least one other light source close by or you get that very obvious Blair Witch flashlight effect.
