Zerosleepless Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Hey guys , stupidest question ever. So basically i have a BUNCH of textures overwriting one another , i don't even uninstall them because i'm under the impression that it wouldn't change anything. To get a better understanding , here's what i have: *The whole 5 "skyrim hd-2k texture packs* (misc-dungeons-towns-riften-landscape) overwritten by *amidian born caves and mines , whiterun , farmhouse and imperial forts* and i recently installed tamriel reloaded (looks hawt , probably the hottest) Those are the large ones , i have textures for absolutely everything else (statues, shrines, clutter, freaking silver cups....) but those don't overwrite each other mostly. My question is , should i uninstall the previous packs that have been overwritten by others? or should i keep it this way, game runs and looks fine fyi Does it even impact performance/stability? PS:i use NMM to install.
Guest Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 If you use NMM and some texture files are overwritten by others, then uninstalling the ones that were overwritten will cause a problem. This because the "good" textures may be removed. The safest way is to uninstall everything (all the texture mods) and then install only the ones you think you need.
swmas Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 The question was if he will have any performance issues with all of them installed, the answer is he won't because if they are overwritten in NMM, the textures aren't there anymore, they are replaced.
Arhon Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 The higher resolution the textures are the bigger the FPS drop will be (well I don't know how big because it really depends on your PC) The question was if he will have any performance issues with all of them installed, the answer is he won't because if they are overwritten in NMM, the textures aren't there anymore, they are replaced. And yes this is true since if you are using NMM it wont overwrite them BUT replace them. If he were using Mod Organizer it will be overwritten but not replaced because each mod has it's own folder.
QuiteTheTail Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I would swap the terms "overwrite" and "replace" in the comments above. Overwriting is a destructive process, replacement is not. So, Mod Oganizer "replaces" the resources, without "overwriting" them.

I guess i'll just keep everything the way it is if it makes no difference at all and like CPU said it'd require uninstalling everything witch isn't worth it (cuz again it makes no changes as i suspected) Thank you all for the helpful replies.
