RedMonika Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 So, how does one put different pieces together to make another set? Does it involve creating a new project in Outfit Studio? And where does the ESP come from to use it game? Thanks
Guest Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 What are you trying to do, MoonNynph? Creating a new set of clothes/armors? Doing it by doing a modification of an existing mod? Taking pieces of other mods and putting all together? Changing a type of armors from one body type to another using bodyslide? Generally speaking (because you mentioned Outfit Studio), probably you have a set of NIFs for some clothes. With body slide you do your alteration for them. Now, the NIF alone does pretty much nothing, it is required that this NIF is referenced by an ARMOR inside a mod (so an ESP.) How to handle this depends of what are you trying to do. As an example, let's say that you want to adapt the clothes for a different body and the ESP providing them should be pretty much the same. In this case just replace the NIFs in the appropriate folder, zip it again, and you are done. If it is a BSA, then unpack, do the alterations, then pack it back again (or do it as loose files.) No need to change the ESP in this case. If you want to get something from here and something else from there, then you need to create a mod (an ESP) and then create the ARMORs and the ARMOR ADDONs in the ESP to point to your altered NIFs. If I did not get your point, please give me more info. K.R.,
gvman3670 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 You could avoid needing an .esp by making a replacer, which only requires the proper folder structure.

I don't want to replace other armors. For example, what if I wanted to put together the top from savage armor and the belt, skirt, etc. piece from dragonbone barbarian?

OK, that is a little bit more complex and may requires a 3D tool (or a super advanced use of NIFSkope). BodySlide cannot really do that. So, let's see a few options: Option 1: the items you want to merge have separate NIFs. [easy] Solution 1: Just create a new Armor in CK, check all the body slots that it will use (at least one for each NIF), and add an Armor Addon for each NIF, and specify one of the body slots. Option 2: you want just a sub part of the NIF, and in NIFSkope, this part has a specific NifTreeShape [possible, but not easy] Solution 2: Edit one NIF, edit anoter NIF in a different NIFSkope. Select the TriShape you want to copy, Copy Branch, then go in the other NIFSkope, and use Paste Branch. You may have errors for the bones. in this case you have to copy the missing bones, one by one. (If the bones names do not match, then this way is pretty much too complex.) Option 3: you just want a small portion of the mesh, and it is not a single NifTriShape. [complex if you don't know 3D modeling] Solution 3: use Blender or 3D Studio to get the two (or more) meshes, and then edit them, by making a single main object.

Nifskope Open the different armor NIF's your interested in getting parts from. Have all those open in Nifskope. Expand the 0 NiNode Find the part you want, Copy Branch Move Mouse to the other Nifskope Window, the one that gets parts. Then Select the 0 NiNode Right Click Paste Branch Click the BSDismemberment You see the bottom left window changed Find Partitions and expand it Expand it again You will see BSnumslots or something it has a number You must make sure that the number is correct for the type place you are putting it. Example 32 is the body slot. If you don't make sure that the body slot is same it wont show in game. Next Thing If you modify a ZERO Weight NIF its gotta have the same placement of those Ni data entries. If those parts don't match up it'll bug out when your between Zero and 100 Weight. You can avoid that with Outfit Studio. In Outfit Studio, Your likely to want to copy weight, better program for that is Mesh Rigger. Next, Find a simple outfit mod. USE Tes5Edit Load up the other mod as an example Borrow their template, write your entries over theirs. That should take like 2 hours maybe...More like 7 if your new.
ousnius Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Outfit Studio can do that actually. You use "Load Outfit" multiple times and check the "Keep current shapes" check box while doing so. Then afterwards you delete the shapes you don't need. If needed, adjust the body slots in NifSkope after exporting. Obviously you have to make sure the shape and weighting is consistent between all the shapes. This is easier than copying the branches in NifSkope, because you don't have to worry about the root name being the same, or all the needed bones existing in the NIF.
Gameplayer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Cell your just going to force me to revolutionize my understanding of how outfits can be made
