B0ss plz Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 When I mod Skyrim, it goes well. I have enough knowledge and skills to take care of myself. But eventually if I get around a good 20 hours into a game it starts to crash, a lot. Loading it up and stuff makes it more frequent. I don't know if it's my save being bloated or orphan scrips, but it becomes unplayable up to then. I uninstalled Skyrim since then and now that Windows 10 came out, I thought that I'd buy an SSD and put Skyrim on there. Now, ever since I've installed it on there, I've been following a guide for modding Skyrim. This guy; Daniel Timko, I've been watching his videos on how to install Skyrim mods to prevent my previous problem but now I've ran into a new one. I eventually got enough mods to use (140) And patched it well using ProcPatcher, or whatever it is to avoid crashes in later games to keep playing them further on. Now, ever since I've installed Skyrim his way I'm getting a crash in alternate start when sleeping in the bed to begin makes it CTD... Back before all of this, it never happened. I decided to run in on vanilla mode, through Helgen and up to the choice where you either go with the Imperial or the Nord to into the keeps. Once I try to enter, it crashes. That's pretty strange for a vanilla game to do. The only edit is the ENB files but that does nothing to the game... Right? Other than that, I don't know what to do, is it my new SSD, Win 10, or me following the steps of someone else on YouTube? If I do it like how I use to again, I'll probably end up having late game crashes, or is there a way to fix that? Thanks for any answers.
Shadowscale Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Would need modlist, load order, and papyrus 0 log so we can figure it out. Did you also try doing player.kill on load to unstick any scripts that might be having issues? Also make sure none of your mods is out of date. An update for them might fix a bug a previous version introduced.
gvman3670 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 If 20 hours of playing causes it to get messed up you have some serious issues and must be doing stuff wrong. I've gone several hundred hours on a save without issue. I have no idea what it is you're doing wrong, but there's something going on.
darkconsole Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 i've been experiencing a lot of crashes lately too the moment a load screen kicks in while trying to walk into whiterun or fast travel, after the game has already been up and running fine for a while. i was wondering if it was actually a recent update to a mod we all use like maybe uskp. im level 12 and have done nearly nothing except crafting. at one point, and im still unclear on this, i thought it was caused by the specific load screen of talos, because it seemed to only happen with him before the text even shows up. but i've had it once or twice on others as well.
gvman3670 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Don't update mods once you're playing a save. Big no-no and just asking for problems. There was a USKP update not long ago.
darkconsole Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 that is not what i mean. i know how to skyrim. this is a new character i created 3 days ago on updated things. the only Windows 10 anomaly for me seems to be that saves take longer to save than normal, i'm thinking MO might not quite yet gel with it.
gvman3670 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 My MO gets along with Win10 just fine. I did have to run it as administrator once, though. But other than that 10 has been a straightforward and easy change for me. If the crashes are in Whiterun then what mods do you use that somehow change Whiterun? Did you clean all the masters with TES5Edit before modding the game?

Well the only thing I did different was use the ProcPatcher, I never did use this before and now that I use SkyRe and PerkusMaxims I've got to run those patches. But when I use them I get these new crashes I've never seen before in alternate start.
