Any mods allow you to pick different "factions"?

I'm currently playing the "good guy" but I was wondering if there were any mods that allowed you to choose being a vampire or bandit or necromancer and those kinds of factions wouldn't attack you on sight.

According to some googling "Alternate Start Live Another Life" does something like this but I haven't tested it.

Anybody have some experience they'd like to share?

I don't know of any mods that do exactly what your asking for but I can help you understand what LAL does. basically if you choose the start as a bandit the bandits in the place you start are non hostile but no quests are broken because other bandits are not affected.

Cool thanks for the answer

I also found this. Super, duper old but I wonder if it works. It sounds like exactly what I want:

LAL with OBIS "AltStartLiveAnotherLife-DG-Faction Patch" will make all bandits non hostile if you will choose to start as one of them. Vampire, necromancer and warlock's thrall options will affect only NPCs in your starting location, other vampires and necromancers will be hostile.

I don't know if it was my fault (mod conflict) but Alternate Starting Factions didn't change any factions and I got killed by other bandits right after creating my character.

Easiest way is to use console command "player.addfac FactionID 1". ID for necromancer faction is 00034B74, 00027242 for vampire faction and 0001BCC0 for bandit faction.

You can create a .txt file in your Skyrim directory (where the launcher is, not data folder) named for example "vampire.txt". Then open it and type in "player.addfac 00027242 1" without "". Start the game, open the console and type "bat vampire". It will automatically add you to the vanilla vampire faction. This will also make wolves, draugr, skeevers and spiders non hostile. I did it with my current character and it didn't break any quests, NPCs in towns didn't attack me on sight.

There are some mods like Master of Disguise or Armor Disguises but they won't permanently add you to any factions, there can be some issues or no effects at all with modded armours and they won't make vampires non hostile.

Edit: Ultimate Vampirism Overhaul   will automatically add you to the vampire faction if you will start as a vampire, but it changes some perks and won't work with custom races.
