The first "album" I bought was  Bon Jovi

 

 

But the first "album" I owned was Van Halen (gift).  I got most of my music (at that time) from my brothers collection because he didn't have a record player (in his room, I think) at college.

I had this on cassette.  It was "welded" into my car stereo, until I finally wore it out (got all warpy and distorted).  Then instantly bought another to replace it.  :)

Robert Johnson was around for a short time in the 30s.  Pretty sure he recorded his voice into a tin can...

 

He recorded a number of tracks, then died young.  In the 30s...

 

Many, many artists have done/sang/and even used his music in their own recordings.  Notably, Led Zeppelin was actually in a court battle with his estate, for clear and obvious use of his voice.

 

The Eagles though, Rolling Stones, etc...  Legend has it that he actually made a deal with the devil to know how to play that well.  In the 19-f'ing-30s!
