MonoTheMonoCorn Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I have recently aquired Fallout 3 and I'm lookinf to mod it but I have no idea how you recognize if a mod is for Fallout 3 or for Fallout New Vegas or they are all compatible and I'm stupid. Thanks in advance
Guest endgameaddiction Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Your best bet is Fallout 3 Nexus. There isn't much for Fallout 3 here. But normally whoever uploads mods will state what the mod is for. If not you can install it and with FOMM or what ever mod manager you use it will tell you what master plugin it requires.
myuhinny Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 You would need both fallout 3 and fallout NV and use TTW (tale of two wastelands) before both fallout 3 and fallout NV mods would be compatible together. Fallout 3 and NV everything looks the same for both so when downloading something make sure to read the authors page as they will usually say there what game it is for as well as downloading from the nexus which has it's own section for fallout 3 mods http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3. If you install something and your not sure what game it's for you can use FO3Edit by ElminsterAU. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/637/?Fire up the .exe that is in it and anything that you have installed into your game will get loaded into it. Then find the mod in the left list click the + to get the drop down and click the file header line and look at the right section and it will list all masters being used as well as stating what game it's for.
RitualClarity Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Hum.. Go to downloads and select Fallout 3, or Fallout NV or Sexout or whatever like the photo shows above. There you will see at a glance what mods go with what games. Simple. All mods except extreme betas should be placed in the downloads section. Nexus has an entire section even has differnt color and artwork on those mods. for FNV and FO3.. . Other sites are similar.
RitualClarity Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Thanks everyone <3 No problem. Another trick is in FOMM you can place your pointer over the mod and inthe bottom it shows your masters needed. The FOMM here I believe will even use color coded installs to help. MO uses big red triangles if you have a missing master. Check these and you will be assured that you don't have a wrong mod in a load order. With Sexout if you use SCR exposures. Pay particular attention to the instructions as there are a few FO3 mods included in the assets folder creation. The ESPs have to be removed or crash to desktop will happen.
