Change hairstyle using a mirror

So I don't know if it's the right place to post this but I suppose a moderator can always move it if it's really in the wrong place since I don't think I can do it myself.

 

Anyway

 

I just now had a mod idea that sounded like something that can possibly enrich your gameplay if you're the immersion loving type. I always hated bringing up the console and typing in "showracemenu" in order to make alterations on my character. It feels like I am cheating, and just leaves this dirty feeling in me after using it. Maybe I am the only one feeling this way, but don't you think it would be nice if there existed a mod that adds a handheld mirror into the game which allows you to ONLY change your hairstyle and warpaint? Now I don't know if "mirrors" are a thing in the Elder Scrolls universe thus I doubt the lore friendliness of it. Though I think it would be a nice addition for all the immersion lovers out there. 

 

What do you guys think? Would such a mod be possible to pull off? It needs to restrict everything else in the character creator except the hairstyle, warpaint and haircolor options, and maybe also overlay stuff in racemenu for tattoos and such. Now I know there's a mod called "The Hairstyler" but it's not quite like what I had in mind and if I remember right, it doesn't "legit" change your hairstlye but it's more like a workaround.

Have you taken a look at the hair dresser in skyrim for the DLC's?

 

He basically does something like this, and if you'd really want to you could look up his scripts/ck id and just apply it to an object.

You mean the one in the ragged flagon? I thought that was a she. Anyway, I haven't actually used that one. Since 1k gold is a ridiculous amount just to change hair lol. Of course you might say, "ah just fu it, type in showracemenu and change it quickly, who cares". Well yes, you have a point and yes I do that all the time, but this was just a thought. Applying scripts from that NPC however, could be a gateway to creating a mod such as this though, so yeah. Good catch. Though I am not experienced in modding, and I'm not going to ask anyone to do it for me or anything. It was just an idea, that maybe someone feels like expanding upon.

Ahh k, was just providing an easy reference to an existing mechanic, that if someone feels inclined could make a mod such as you propose.

 

The vanilla implementation only allows face changes and such, dunno if it will allow the custom RM paint stuff.

 

But yea it'd be a good base script to start working from.

Checkout the houses from the mod authoer called Elianora, she has some custom player homes which have working mirrors as dressers free of charge.

Yeah I've seen that one. Might give it a shot. Also I did not know Eli had houses that included working mirrors. That seems interesting. Do you know which ones? Since I figure it might be hard to locate, given that she has many house mods.

For more options, Underground Bathhouse and most, if not all of Ld50365's house mods such as Skyfall Estate and Blackthorn also include a bathroom mirror to change your appearance in.
