Shadowhawk827 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Just curious how much time others here spend doing one vs the other. It seems like I bounce back and forth, where I'll work like crazy on mods for a week or two then break and play Skyrim for a week or two. The last week or two especially, I've been stuck in a real rut. Busy real life routine all of the sudden and by the time I can sit at the PC, I'm too tired to do mod work so I game for an hour or so and go to bed.
Guest Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I play Skyrim to mod. Unlike a fair few of our guys I do still actively play it, but 90% of the attraction is modding, trying to turn this sow's ear into a silk purse. I'm powerfully attracted to gameplay mods particularly, seeing as that's the general area of the game I find most potential is lacking. We modders are like Sisyphus, doomed to spend eternity pushing a boulder up a hill only to watch it tumble back to the bottom again. Amirite?
shizurin Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I feel like I spend a lot of time mod testing. See if I like a mod then want to keep it in my load order. I think I play more, but I often install mods mid-game. So, I play more I suppose.
crusher Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I do mod maintenance when busy or family is around and about. I do skyrim binges when I'm all alone and just looking for adventure in fantasy. This form of entertainment is the future and just imagine when Tamriel Online start to mod sync for multiplay.
ousnius Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I'm spending most of my Skyrim time outside of the game, coding BodySlide or modding body/outfit meshes and "occasionally" replying to some CBBE/UUNP/BodySlide comments. When I play, it's trying out various character/graphics mods or tweaking other things, just for the sake of tweaking, not playing.
30721 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I go through cycles. I spend weeks getting a particular set of mods working together, then I'll play through with a character I've specifically made for those mods. Like if I have a ton of magic mods, I'll play as a mage for a few weeks. Then, I'll uninstall all the magic mods, add some combat realism mods, and play as a brawler. Or I'll get a bunch of survival mods working together and roleplay a hunter. So modding/playing is about 50/50, but if I'm doing one, I'm typically not doing the other.
Veladarius Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 My time with Skyrim currently is 1/3 modding, 1/3 testing and 1/3 playing for myself.
Robton Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 When you make mods, the time spent on that will automatically be much more than playing. But also when you make mods, much time is also spend being lazy. so I say I spend 2/10 in the game, 4/10 modding in either CK, 3DS Max or NifSkope and another 4/10 in either CK, 3DS Max or NifSkope being lazy
Guest ...failure Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Well for me: 1st playthrough 380 hours 2nd playthrough 260 hours (both playthroughs by same character Elina) currently useing mods count 69 (this will change very soon) modding time more than 40 hours (never counted) aaand, I'm still playing Skyrim, that means 260 +
Guest ...failure Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 ...and forgot to add this, In case someone's wandering, this shows both playthroughs combined (glitched quests left unchecked) + Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn...
