A problem with too many follower mods...

Recommended Posts

Well, I installed too many follower mods, now when I step into some indoor places, the game just crashes to desktop.

For instance, right at the beginning of the game, many modders choose Riverwood sleeping giant inn as the follower dafault place. Whenever I walk into that door, the game crashes.

Here are my questions:

-I intended to uninstall some followers mods (right now, it's the followers in Riverwood inn), but the problem is there are so many mods I installed (around 50? xD) so track down each of them is so tiring. Plus, some modders forgot to include the location too. Is there any tool to check what followers are inside that inn, so I can remove them?

-Better, is there any way I can disable all of those followers in game, but I can summon them with console? I mean, so that they will not cause crashing, but when I need one, I can just call them with console code.

Tks very much.

50 mod is not so much.. I have 383 mods, with 186 active esp, and 20 of them are followers... so no.. your problem is probably "one" follower mod in conflict.

You should really use a mod manager regardless if NMM or MO if you dont allready use on I say that since it sounds like you dont use any.

If you use one it should not be hard to track down your follower mods

if you use non simply go in to the data directory of skyrim and use the folder search for "follower" most modders include this term somehow in follower mods of course you will not catch all.

After you have the names you will have to google the names or use the mod manager to get to the download page and read the discription where they are.

In any way if you dont use a mod manager I recommend you to reinstall you skyrim and start modding while using one otherwise you will have a lot of leftover files you dont know what they belong to if the modder not named them obvious.

Edit: Vykroft allready post a good guess, but what you do is up to you I also doubt that its because of to many followers in riverwood I use Bathing beautys luxury suite which is alone allready a stress to skyrim with all its scripts and have easy ~20-30 followers in there without crashing, but its of course also dependend on the hardware if you can take a lot of high quality followers so it might be or not the reason you crash I think more like vykroft you have whatever conflict in riverwood

probably a ram ctd, as usual

selene kate, yuih x, and other followers are in that inn

and they use custom textures

custom textures are a fail

if 2 followers use sg, you load sg textures 2 times

if 3 use mature, you load mature textures 3 times

femalebody_1_msn, sk and s files too is maybe the same for everyone too

either you get rid of custom textures and make them load standart textures

either you put sg in textures\actors\char\sg, mature in \char\mature, cbbe in \char\cbbe

create a sgbody, maturebody... (that still load msn, s and sk from standart patch, to load other msn, s  or sk file, sgmusclebody, sgmusclewetbody...)

and give them that (that take more time)

..or you could edit each follower ".esp" with the CK, and change the texture path of the follower body to the default one, that way you are not changing significantly the ".esp" and you are saving a lot of vram.

I like to use 3DNPC because you get followers all over Skyrim without worrying about this problem. You can also use Bijin's and Amazing Follower Tweaks and get pretty followers that way too.

I'm using MO at the moment.

and give them that (that take more time)

how do i get rid of those custom textures? where is it located? still, doesn't getting rid of them make those followers not cool anymore?

well, first i will start tracking down each mods and delete some in that giant inn as you suggested.

Tks everyone for replies xD.

haha hey guys, especially yatol for pointing out that Selene Kate mod is in Riverwood inn. I start by clearing out that mod and I can walk into that door now.

Problem is solved.

Still, is there any tool to modify the mod, so that I can move her somewhere else?

You can use TES5Edit to check where they are located at, it will have the cell where they are at listed in it. As for moving them it would probably be best to use the CK to do that.
