FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Okay, NORMALLY I'm pretty good with neck seams & have a reasonable idea of what I'm doing. HOWEVER, following my re-install I seem to be getting a neck seam, and I cannot work out where it's coming from. I'm using an updated STEP install, so there's a lot of mods I'm not very familiar with, but I can't see anything obvious in the load order... I have removed all modded textures from my game, along with any modded female body meshes. ...\Skyrim\Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets is disabled so anything there cannot load ...\Skyrim\Data\textures\actors is disabled so anything there cannot load Things seem to be pretty Vanilla, but the result looks like this: Yuck. Something still looks off about the face texture, but I can't seem to find the culprit. vram1974 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 That's not a neck seam lol. The head and body have different tints. Now THIS is a nasty neck seam As for your problem you can still see colour mismatch because .bsa files can have tint information
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 Okay - I have just checked & the problem is still evident even with all plugins disabled aside from the Bethesda Skyrim, Update, & DLCs, and the unofficial patches, and with the whole textures folder disabled so it cannot load: All races, male & female. What on earth am I doing wrong here???
Seijin8 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 @FastestDogInTheDistrict: You've got a rogue _sk.dds file somewhere that is messing with the skin tint. If you are using NMM, check that it actually uninstalled things (not sure how you would do that, actually). If you are using MO, make sure there isn't anything conflicting in the overwrite folder. One alternate possibility is that the ENB's subsurface scattering isn't set up properly. Since the head and body do use slightly different rendering properties (invisible in vanilla, can be visible with other body shapes and textures), some ENB settings can generate this kind of effect. Changing the normal map and specular skin textures might help. Hope you can get it sorted. Best of luck.
hentaijin Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I remember having an issue with an ENB once, forgot about it tho
sethwarner08 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I'd like to say that the neck seam issue is a something that even the best modders on Skyrim have not found an absolute solution to. Its the way Skyrim mechanics work, i say this out of experience because i did everything and tried everything with the top modders out there and eventually there was no solution except that i found a skin texture that worked. I have a $6K rig with maxed out specs so it can run the best texture packs, the one that worked for me was the fair skin texture mod, i tried all the others, Bellas, SG textures, Navsea, Mature skin Texture and a bunch more, but none worked, i should also point out that disabling my ENB made the problem work, try out the fair skin texture and see if that works for you. The one that marv4791 pointed out seems to be a neck gap which is mostly brought about due to a weight mismatch. If the texture is prevalant on custom NPCs it could be a more complex issue where the Nif file may not be pointing to the right dds files. If you use MO, you can check on which MOD actually 'governs' your face/body texture. I had a nasty seam issue during my first game, that was really nasty, the face was dark and the only way i got rid of it was a clean Installation.
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 I remember having an issue with an ENB once, forgot about it tho ...!! That's the one place I hadn't looked yet! Okay - I have narrowed it down to this file. When I switch it off (re-name), the problem goes away. It's something in here: (Added to an archive as it won't let me attach an .ini here). It's the "enblocal.ini" file. Here's the full text contents in a spoiler: [PROXY] EnableProxyLibrary=false InitProxyFunctions=true ProxyLibrary=other_d3d9.dll [GLOBAL] UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=false UseDefferedRendering=false ForceFakeVideocard=false IgnoreCreationKit=true [PERFORMANCE] SpeedHack=true EnableOcclusionCulling=true EnableZPrepass=false [MULTIHEAD] ForceVideoAdapterIndex=false VideoAdapterIndex=0 [MEMORY] ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true DisableDriverMemoryManager=true DisablePreloadToVRAM=false EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false ReservedMemorySizeMb=1024 VideoMemorySizeMb=2048 EnableCompression=true AutodetectVideoMemorySize=true [WINDOW] ForceBorderless=false ForceBorderlessFullscreen=false [ENGINE] ForceAnisotropicFiltering=true MaxAnisotropy=16 EnableVSync=true AddDisplaySuperSamplingResolutions=false ForceLodBias=false LodBias=0.0 VSyncSkipNumFrames=0 [LIMITER] WaitBusyRenderer=false EnableFPSLimit=false FPSLimit=60.0 [iNPUT] //shift KeyCombination=16 //f12 KeyUseEffect=123 //home KeyFPSLimit=36 //num / 106 KeyShowFPS=106 //print screen KeyScreenshot=44 //enter KeyEditor=13 //f4 KeyFreeVRAM=115 [ADAPTIVEQUALITY] Enable=false Quality=1 DesiredFPS=20.0 [ANTIALIASING] EnableEdgeAA=false EnableTemporalAA=false EnableSubPixelAA=false EnableTransparencyAA=false [FIX] FixGameBugs=true FixParallaxBugs=true FixAliasedTextures=true IgnoreLoadingScreen=false IgnoreInventory=true FixSsaoWaterTransparency=true FixSsaoHairTransparency=true FixTintGamma=true RemoveBlur=true FixSubSurfaceScattering=true FixParallaxTerrain=true FixSkyReflection=true FixCursorVisibility=true FixLag=false I already tried setting "MaxAnisotropy=16" back to 0, but that did nothing, so it must be something else... *For reference, the ENB I am using is the latest ENB.269 "BLEAK" (*got the .269 binary from the SkyrimTuner site, luckily) and I have ENBoost - as far as I could tell I set all the files according to what "STEP .ini guide" and Bleak require... enblocal.rar
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 I think I might have found the problem... Under [FIX] in enblocal.ini, set FixTintGamma=true to FixTintGamma=false Before & after: BEFORE - FixTintGamma=true AFTER - FixTintGamma=false I'll now try re-applying all my textures & such & see if it stays...
Erundil Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 It looks like the tinting is different on head and body. Fixable by creating loose files for head and body - femalebody_1_sk.dds and femalehands_1_sk.dds have to match. Also check if the _s and _msn textures are matching
