converting meshes

More specifically, static meshes from Morrowind to Oblivion. I'm a complete, utter newb with little tech savvy, and only small copy pasting skills with nifskope, so I might be biting off more than I can chew, but... how?

How does one do it?

I'm aiming to convert over (almost certainly just for personal use... maybe) the Castle Karstaag meses from Bloodmoon over to Oblivion. How would I do this?

(And, if its very technical -ie, technical at all- how do I bribe someone to do it?)

Nifskope alone won't get it done, I'm afraid. You'll need Blender. I'm fairly certain you could find a tutorial around the net explaining the steps, but it's probably going to take more than a copy-paste to achieve. I wouldn't know the exact steps because I don't own Morrowind, and am not intending to get it in the near future.

For the above reason, you won't be able to bribe me (sharing core Bethesda game files is forbidden according to site ToS if memory serves), however there could be someone else willing to help you - depending on the size of the project (number of models, their complexity, and how difficult the conversion is).

Fair enough, fair enough.

It's just, ah, ten models, I believe?

Didn't know sharing Bethesda models was forbidden. How does one upload retextures, then? Same models, yes?

Uploading retextures is the same as uploading anything else.  You need to make damn sure that the texture is going to be in the same file folder structure as the texture it is replacing, with the same exact name or the game will not pick it up.

As for the meshes (what you are referring to as "models"), you need to give instructions for folks to pull them from their morrowind game and put them into their oblivion one.

the difficulty of porting a mesh  depends on the mesh it self .     exemple : for a body  you need blender   for positions  and rig the mesh to a skeleton.     for an armor / cloth  i belive gerra6 converter will do the trick  (do not know for morrowind )  .  for a static mesh   like a statue   you just need nifskope   , but for a house you might need to use blender to make the collisions if they can not be ported in nifskope.

after the mesh is ported   it is time to think about textures  .  need textures.dds  and textures_n.dds (normalmaps)  for oblivion , and gimp  is fine enough .

if you want some help  i think you should post a file and you probably  will get help for this specific file.

or look at those links that might be more than usefull :

Well, I'm forbidden to post the file, but I'll check the links!

Frankly, it looks more like I'm going to just retexture some oblivion models. Little duller, but it works.

Ports are a no-no.

Meshes from another game are a no-no.

Posting vanilla meshes is also frowned upon.

Altered textures, even if they are just altered vanilla is fine.

Altered meshes, even if they are just altered vanilla is fine.

The point of all of it is to keep Lover's Lab from being drug into court because someone is posting a bunch of game assets and making it look like we are participating in piracy.
