DittoSenpai Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Ok, so I will try to add as much detail as physically possible, you guys can ask for more things if you believe that you require it to answer my questions. So, recently I upgraded my computer and after that I have been unable to use mods such as FNIS because I cannot run the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe. Due to this I cannot add any mods to MO. I have tried to re install both Skyrim and MO. Both times I have done so nothing has changed. I continue to get the same error. This error: So let me talk about the upgrades made to my computer and what computer I have and etc... My OG Computer: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaCentre-K450e-Desktop-57327392/dp/B00K91D71Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433885157&sr=8-1&keywords=lenovo+k450e Upgrades made to it include: The addition of an SSD (250gb): http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E500B-AM/dp/B00OBRE5UE/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1433885299&sr=1-3&keywords=SSD An upgrade to Windows 8.1, which I don't think you guys need a link for since you already know (This has to be what was fucking me up, all the problems started after this upgrade) Yesterday I added in both a new graphics card and a new PSU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SC6HAS4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01 And a 520w Lenovo Insignia Power Supply. I don't know whether or not this matters but I thought I'd add all of that just in case that might be what's fucking me up.
chajapa Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Is GerateFNISforUsers.exe set to run as administrator?
halieslade Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 What directory holds your Skyrim game folders? Is it under Steam? Did you install FNIS by using Mod Organizer's "Install a new mod from archive" or from the MO Downloads tab? (Both should work). After you installed FNIS, did you use MO's "Configure Executables" command (the gear wheels icon) to add FNIS, then add it to your toolbar? I've been playing around with FNIS and MO for the past few days, myself, and overcame several problems to get it to work correctly. Once you have it installed, you might have to run it twice to get past the initial error message, then convert the Overwrite file to a mod.
Anatriax Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Steps to getting FNIS working with MO are available in my guide. There are discussions following the main guide on how to overcome some of the issues that people have encountered, and several solutions available for a lot of things. Try checking that out. Also, make sure you have Direct X 9, Java, Visual C++ Redistributable (2010, 2012, and 2013, all the must have x86 and x64 versions installed. x86 first, then x64) installed. FNIS and several modding tools are dependent on those programs being installed.
vvalentour Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 What I use is the nexus Mod manager (NMM) it's found on nexusmods . com I also use BOSS and LOOT which are mod sorting programs My skyrim is the legendary version from Steam that has the unoffical skyrim patch or USKP Mod organizer I've read before is extreamly wonkey it works for some mods and others it doesn't :/ FINS works perfectly when installed with the NMM it's found in your data files of skyrim under tools I believe also I don't know if you did a "run as administrator" authorization for it.
SongBlossom Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Try this video, its long, but should cover your problem:
Yllarius Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Personally, If you can help it, I'd still use MO over NMM. NMM is decent, but MO is just...better. That being said, how did you 'upgrade'? Did it entail reinstalling windows? (I would assume so if you got a SSD)If so, make sure you've got the stuff Anatriax mentioned.Try right-clicking on your skyrm and MO folders and going into properties. Make sure these are NOT set to Read-Only. Finally, I've no idea if FNIS runs on Windows 8 or 10 if you have it, but I imagine there could be any kind of UAC issues with them.
gvman3670 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I just installed the newest version of MO on a friend's PC that is running Windows 10. I installed FNIS "from an archive" then unzipped it and placed the "tools" folder into the Skyrim data folder. After that set the generator to run as an executable through MO. I did, however, have to run it twice because of an error the first time. But it works perfectly now.
OrcishOatmeal Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Probably your best bet is to install FNIS using NMM and everything else on MO, thats what I do because I found setting it up was really confusing
gvman3670 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Not confusing at all. And using NMM is kinda pointless when you're already using a far superior manager. Simply install it into MO just like any other mod and either manually place the FNIS /tools/ folder into the /Skyrim /data/ folder, or go to the data tab in MO's right pane then right click the tools folder and "add as executable".
