NNS10 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I never noticed this before since I've always used ECE, but apparently the head textures from SG Female Textures and Fair Skin Complexion are designed for ECE's head mesh since it has different UV texture mappings. Anyone know what this difference is exactly? If you weren't using ECE's head mesh, how different does it look? Is it really minor? Because on the FSC page, it says this (emphasis is mine): The face textures are most compatible with ECE symmetrical head mesh. You'd think it's either compatible or not. Since it says "most compatible," it makes me curious what exactly that means and what is different.
Sarathis Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I've never used ECE and always use SG textures. They look beautiful. I wouldn't worry about it.
Rayblue Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Use these from Ran46, they worked for me perfectly using regular UNP, SG Textures and Racemenu: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7127/?
Gameplayer Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Fairskin textures do look better on an ECE head mesh. That said the only thing you really need from the ECE package is the head mesh. There is also Pretty face and Pretty Face mesh which amount to the same thing. So you could just try swapping the heads out if its an issue for you. Mostly you'll notice that the face is rounder and less gaunt looking like the default heads and maps present. A lot of follower npc's are made with that head mesh and packaged hopefully self contained.
NNS10 Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 What I'm trying to understand is what the issue is when you don't use the ECE head mesh. For example, does it cause visual issues around the ears? At the neck seam? Are they minor? Noticeable? Etc.
Effie Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I know that if i use adorable face without ECE, then i get this weird black line above one of the eyelids - so i guess that's relatd.
NNS10 Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 I know that if i use adorable face without ECE, then i get this weird black line above one of the eyelids - so i guess that's relatd. I had that issue too when I was testing RaceMenu but I thought it was a morph issue since it only occurred on some eyes shapes and moved with the eyelids... Maybe it was the texture. If it was, the fact it was on one eye only also makes sense since SG/FSC make mention of using ECE's symmetrical head mesh. I'll have to test... Edit: Nope.. the issue I had was definitely a morph problem. Texture and head mesh didn't have any effect on it. The issue I had was due to the two eye shape morphs causing a weird issue. Latest RaceMenu allows disabling the first eye morph shape, which fixed it. So I'm back to where I was before.
