Guess what! Another CK Error! YAY!

I was able to open CK before I reinstalled my OS. The only thing I did differently is install Skyrim on a separate drive from my OS this time. It seems to want to run like a dream for a while (not important now).

The steam forums all have solutions that require Skyrim to be installed in C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam... My installation doesn't have that. Should I now move Skyrim back to C:?

I have mine all setup on a separate drive aswell .."D:\Games\Steam\..."

In MO under modify executables (blue and green gears in top left) when you select creation kit do you have Overwrite Steam AppID checked with the number 202480 in ther appID textBox?

I get the same error as you are having if I dont have Overwrite Steam AppID set.

In your SkyrimEditor.ini (again :) ) find this line under [Archieve]

SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa

And change it to this, In relation to wich DLCs you have

SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa, Hearthfires.bsa, Dragonborn.bsa

Thanks for trying again, Azmodan, but it appears to be a Steam issue. Something must be wrong with Steam on my computer.

Return to the OP here and see the screenshot that has the dialogue box that is titled "Steam Error." I just noticed that today. Perhaps with this information, the problem may be solved.

Ok, so I researched this more deeply, and folks are saying that I need to delete the Clientregistry.blob file in the Steam folder. The problem is I don't have a Steam folder, but a Steam library folder. I may need to try reinstalling Steam.

Are you using Steam beta?

I had a problem with my Fallout New Vegas installation where I couldn't run the game with NVSE, even editor didn't want to start, opting out of beta to stable version seemed to fix my problem, might be the same for you.

So it is not a Steam appID problem. I tried launching CK from the Skyrim folder, and I got the same error. This is getting old.

EDIT: I decided that I would launch the CK from inside the Steam "tools" section. It launched successfully and almost loaded itself instantly.

Is there a way to launch the CK this way though MO?

So I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I found a work around for the load error issue. The bad news is that I'm stuck with very simple projects.

The work around: I copy the .esp files that I need from MO into a separate folder on my desktop. From there, I paste them into my Skyrim/Data folder. Then I launch the CK through Steam tools menu. I make the changes or new files. I cut and paste the new file back into a folder inside the folder that I had used previously. I make a 7zip archive.

This may seem routine to many, but i don't have the discipline or desire to take on large scale projects this way. If I can get the help I need to fix this problem, only then will I resume the larger projects.

Thanks, folks.

After digging around in Steam's knowledge base, I discovered that my anti-virus program might block CK from opening. I fiddled with an advanced setting and turned on compatibility mode. Immediately I attempted to launch CK through MO, and it launch without hesitation. This problem is solved.
