Evolving from ECE to RaceMenu.

Recommended Posts

So the time has come for me to "evolve" from ECE to RaceMenu. I need help to find what i have to remove in order to uninstall ECE manually. I bought a new computer a while back and i had to transfer the skyrim data. This means the mod manager lost its all capeabilites of uninstalling ECE. Now i have to do it manually. Sadly i have 0 idea what i should unistall. I would appriciate any help.

I don't know about the dependencies, but on the ECE page you have this:

Uninstallation

  1. You make sure use YgNord before uninstallation. Change to another race.
  2. Deactivates this mod with any mod manager.
  3. Deletes this mod with any mod manager
  4. You make sure DataSKSEPluginsCharacterMakingExtender_plugin.dll . if it exists, delete it.
  5. You make sure use custom skeleton mod(e.g. XPMS, BBP, Realistic Ragdoll Force...). Reinstall that mod.

But you should look inside the install package you downloaded from nexus, and delete every file that matches too.

If you are using NMM as mod manager you can simply install again a mod and then uninstall it.

This usually removes all the files.

If you are using ModOrganizer then the unistall is way simpler, just remove the mod folder from the Mod Organizar directory.

If i just deactivate the the esp files will that count as deinstallation too? Because i might not find all to delete sincet he structure of the mod download is different than the usual mods since it has options during hte isntallation.

Sadly installing it and uninstalling it it wont work. It will install once. Then after the uninstall it will return to the previous ECE which i have to manually uninstall now. Unless i somehwo delete the backup of the mod. Which god knows where NMM saves them.

BEFORE you uninstall (if I'm not too late), go get the CharGen Export tool. This will allow you to save your head data (mesh and texture), so you can import it into RaceMenu.

That is, if you want to keep your old character's look. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

I already have the tool downloaded. I am just trying to fidn what i have to remove first.

You have to use CharGen Export before you uninstall ECE, or you can't get your character's head out of the game anymore.

No, only deactivating the ESP files won't work I'm afraid. But there's an easy fix to that situation. Download the ECE archive from the Nexus, take a look at what files it comes with, then use that information to delete exactly those files from your Skyrim folder(s).

When done deleting, re-install a custom skeleton mod (XPMS Extended preferred, especially for RaceMenu) and run FNIS. You also don't need any "showracemenu precache killer" or extended colors anymore. That's all included in the main RaceMenu.

Go for a manual uninstall then.

Download the ECE again (better if it is exactly the same version), uncompress it somewhere.

Then open the uncompressed data folder and the data foler of Skyrim. Keep the windows side by side.

For each item in the ECE directoy, find the same item in the Skyrim data folder, and delete it. This includes the esp file.

Then run your mod manager, deactivate a mod, then re-enable it (any one). This is just to update the enabled esps list, and get rid of the no more valid ECE entry.

For my previous experiences, when you update the game folder like this some things tend to fuck up, so the best thing to do is to reinstall everything and just reuse your previous save, if the game is still running, try to deactivate every esm and esp that is a mod, and make a clean save, after you delete everything and install anew, this way you will prevent CTDs and save corruptions.

Yeah i just decide to scrap the face... i will try to make something new.  I am trying presets but sadly none look like the pictures.

Edit: Remade the face. Resembles the ECE. Close enough. Thanks for all the help guys.
