Sladen2019 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I'd like to buy the Legendary dl version and have it work officialy within Steam and have mods work with it but I dont want to pay the full $40 they want in the Steam store. I see it cheaper on other sites but dont know if I can use it in steam and work with mods with no trouble. I remember some dl store versions of Oblivion being encrypted and not working with mods. I live in the US by the way, and am interested in any us dl store deals if there any. If they work with Steam of course.
sila Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 If you buy the legendary edition somewhere other than steam, you can add it to steam overlay with "add a non-steam game" in the library, you won't get the steam achievements but you will have access to friends list. If you have the basic version of Skyrim on steam and buy the dlc elsewhere, it will not work.
Tepi Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Afaik Skyrim is only and always on steam(?). Even if you bought a hard copy like I did, you would add they to steam and it would work as if bought from steam.
Vaelorian Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Just wait for a sale if you think the price tag is too high; Skyrim has been on sale multiple times, going as low as 13$ for the legendary edition.
Contessa Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Actually you should get a key that you put into Steam in order to activate Skyrim there, so you should be safe buying it elsewhere for cheaper. You still need Steam for it regardless of where you get it, I believe.
Sladen2019 Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 I lost all willpower and paid the full price. After I did that, I came across this dealzon.com offer selling it for $10.61 for a very limited time, http://www.dealzon.com/deals/elder-scrolls-skyrim#elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-legendary-edition
Contessa Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Don't feel bad, it's worth the full price, besides that's the way of things in any game. Even for PC's! I bought this PC and not even two weeks later I saw one that was literally twice as powerful for the same price. Took me awhile to get over that one.
Synthael Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I bought a few games i own from sites like Kinguin and Buygamecode, they have cheaper than Steam prices, but when buying from sources like that, just make sure key fits the region you're in. Had one game that was for a wrong region, couldn't play it because of that, had to go through Steam support to fix that, wouldn't like anyone to go through that... Next link has worldwide key for a fraction of the price, key arrives in about 2 hours max... http://www.kinguin.net/category/1231/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-legendary-edition-steam-key/
