When I first saw this scene several years ago, it already kind of choked me up.

But seeing it again yesterday night, I realized that the whole scene is so very close to home at the moment, I almost bawled:

Watched a Let's Play of Journey on the PS3. Regretted it, because now i realize it's one of those games you really need to experience for yourself, because even just watching it had feels, but not as much feels as playing it firsthand would have.

LoTR: Fellowship of the Ring book (the movie likewise)

I remember the first time when I read The Fellowship of the Ring, when Gandalf died fighting the Balrog in the mines of Moria, I felt sad and disappointed and I was considering not reading the book any further because my favorite character died. Little did I know...
It's funny that I felt the same way when I watched the movie, even though I knew what will happen later.

For me:

Angel Beats! (anime)

All the stories of the characters touch me the heart and the final makes me cry everytime

Neo Genesis Evangelion (anime)

Although it has no a sad story story have a complex and exciting story always excited me and I wait for the next movie of rebuild

Mekaku City Actors (anime)

I think the story is very good although not the best if it is quite to my liking, the last episode make me emotional

Warm Bodies (movie)

the typical story of zombies who fall in love, I am somewhat romantic

Hachi: A dog´s tale (movie)

just makes me cry so much almost start to finish

Twilight (books)

emotion, romance, vampires and werewolves could ask for more ?) except for better adaptation to the movie ._."

This has made me cry literally every time I've seen it.  Game wasn't good, but this ending man...

Final Fantasy 13-2

This is kind of different, but when I did this myself, I shed tears of joy.

Five Nights at Freddy's

The season finale to Daredevil filled me with a kind of childish glee the likes of which I haven't felt in a very, very long time. I literally sat there, bumping my clenched fists onto the arms of my computer chair, grinning ear to ear, muttering forcefully "GET HIM, GET HIM, FUCK YES" the whole time.

Well, I still can't watch Bambi. 36 year old me is sitting there shoulder to shoulder with my 5 year old self bawling my eyes out when his mum comes around for the final time.

One that I haven't seen here, but gets to me in at least two scenes. The movie is called 'We were soldiers once' It's based of a book I have not had a chance to read but is on my list.

At the end of the first day in the combat zone, we go back States side. A cab driver looking lost with some telegrams he does not know how to deliver. The way that scene plays out with the Colonel's wife. Awesome. Manly tears every time.

The second one is at the end. After the fighting is done and the colonel breaks down looking at all the dead US soldiers. That whole scene, followed by the conversation with the photographer.

Books, recently Patrick's Rothfuss Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear. Made me think about a lot of stuff, especially what it really means to be in love. I sat down helpless for hours after finishing the first book, and couldn't wait the morrow to buy the second, purchased my first ever eBook that night, and I'm gonna get the actual book too. yeah that much.

Ah and the Daredevil tv show. Didn't think I'd get that immersed in a comic based thing, but the way it treats child slavery, rape, prostitution and handicap really got to me.

Anime

Grave of Fireflies - the first time I've ever cried from a show, I broke down when the girl died. Cried so much.

Steins;Gate - Okabe's frustration and mental breakdown in trying to save Mayuri, then Kurisu at the end.

Angel Beats - when they revealed how the MC's former life and how he died, that was just horrible man. Fate was a dick to him.

Mekaku City Actors - Heat Haze Daze, a deadly groundhog day to sum it up. For some reason I teared up.

Games

Mass Effect 3 - when Morton went up to fix the tower... gawd those man tears that were shed.

Movies

Boy in the Striped Pajamas - that ending... made me scream NOOOO.

Pan's Labyrinth - man that's one sad movie.

For me it was Mass Effect 3, the whole ending left me so emotional (the original before dlc) that I was literally mindfucked, I was on the bioware forums for weeks, digging deep into the indoctrination theory, donating to childs's play and pages like Retake's Mass Effect, literally every day after work. Mass Effect was one of my most favourite series and I played 1 and 2 like 10 times and can tell dialogues from memory. And yet I have finished the 3 only once, and can't force myself to try again, even tho I know there is something like "Happy Ending" mod or the like. So yeah call it emotional trauma.

Shadows Of Colossus really touched me to tears, the whole game has such atmosphere, You are travelling vast dark grey world alone to kill ancient giants, which the act of doing takes away Your soul/life, in order to save your wife. If anyone still has working ps2 like me or emulator I really recommend to try this one out.

TWD

Sohphia being in the barn this whole time in season 2. The look on Ricks face and knowing that he had to be the one to put her down.

Hershel's response to Rick when Rick had felt a deception for lying to Carl about Sophie being alive and okay.

Best season ever. Scott Wilson is a damn fine actor.

SC1/SC2

The love story between Sarah Kerrigan and Jim Raynor. I'm a sucker for twisted deep love stories. And not a lot of games sink in well with me because they either tend to have a shitty emotional love story, or none at all.

FFVII

Cloud and Tifa. The scene  back in their hometown. Knowing his feelings towards Tifa, but never expressing how he really felt for her. And then the moment they spent together right before you are off to kill Sephiroth. The amount of depth in that sequel. The whole game was spot on.

Gaming wise it has to be Metal Gear Solid and MGS Snake Eater.

MGS 1:

In the 1st one, Sniper Wolf's death as well as Gray Fox's. I was in tears, watching it on my psone.

MGS 3:

The entire story about the Boss. To me that is best written female character I have ever witnessed in a video game, if not one of the best written characters of any gender, period.

Movie wise, call me weird, but 300 and Gladiator.

In Gladiator:

As Maximus walks down the fields towards his murdered family in his mind. Man tears.

And 300

As Leonidas and Stelios lay dying, Stelios utters to his king how it was an honor to have died alongside him, to which Leonidas answered that it was his honor to have lived at his. So good.

As well as most of the picks others have made in this thread, I just love me some good emotional scenes for entertainment. Music also plays a huge role in such scenes.
