Educate a noob about body mods

What are the differences between UNP and CDEC. I belive those are the two most popular mods. Can someone explain the differences? I'm new.

Assuming you mean UNP vs CBBE then there is not much difference, aside from the body look. Both have armor mods as well as textures replacers. It all comes back to your taste.

UNP Is a more proportional and realistic body, although only in comparison to CBBE - it still suffers from improbable waist syndrome.

My favorite is Dream Girl because it has excellent deformation and weights, and it looks much more realistic than most bodies when combined with RaceMenu to increase the size of the waist.

I guess I'm part of a really small minority, but I'll chime in and say: CNHF!

I'm using the 2.5 version at the moment and I really like it. It's (in my opinion) the most realistic body - boob size is believable, waist size is believable, butt size is believable, and to me, everything seems to be correctly proportioned.

However, there are only very few mods for it... I guess many people find it too realistic?

To each their own, but I think CNHF is worth being checked out at least

Some tips to make a the best looking characters.

 

1. Use CBBE: CBBE is the best since Bodyslide will allow you to customize the shape or your body to fit your prefference and outfit studio will allow you to make any outfit fit that body. Also another reason to use CBBE is BodySlide already has 90% of all of the other bodu mods out there loaded in to it. Besides that you can just easily create your own body to fit your taste then use w/e textures you want. Textures are the most important any nub like me can open up bodyslide and create a custom body like I did but textures are what makes it look great. Basically CBBE is w/e you want it to be your not stuck with 1 type of body you can make it w/e you want while the other mods your stuck with what the mod author likes and nothing else.

 

2. You will new Ehanced Character Edit or ECE IMO far better than race menu with far more sliders and the ability to undo and redo changes while in race menu with now 40 different slots to save characters in. The amount of sliders it adds is amazing.

 

3. Fair skin complexion mod: Great great textures really makes the girls look nice

 

4. SG textures: is another great texture mod

 

5. SG Hair pack: is by far the best hair pack out their

 

6. Apachi Sky Hair: another great hair pack and the most common

 

7. HDT: gives some of the best ass and breast animations

 

8. Then their is a little mod on nexus that allows all races to use all the different eye textures

UNP is slimmer with smaller breasts.  UNPB is UNP with larger breasts (but not as big or round as CBBE).  Generally all the "UNP" are "mostly" compatible with each other (UNP, UNPB, UNP skinny, UNP petite, etc.).

 

Personally I use UNPB, because I like the shape best, but it must be said that CBBE continues to be the most widely supported body type--the most armors, the most mods, etc.

Pretty much everything else, dream girl, adec, 7base, etc., etc., are definitely "Second-tier"...they have their proponents, but they dont have nearly as much support, and I can't recommend them for noobs.

CBBE has great compatibility and can be formed to any shape, but it isn't high quality - the topography is odd especially for the genitals and ass, and the deformation gets horrifying with certain animations.

 

I use Dream Girl (modified to include labia and physics so she doesn't look like a FGM victim) because it is has a great shape when using racemenu to increase the waist size and bicep size, has great deformation that is superior to every body I have seen.

 

However, it does not have nearly as many armors supporting it as CBBE or UNP, and I can't get bodyslide to work with the modified (labia+genital physics) version.

I disagree with the last comment. Ultimately, when playing Skyrim, you will settle on only a few armors and armor mods that you actually like.

I completely disagree that a lack of support makes them "second-tier".

 

In my opinion, the way our bodies look and feel are far more important than having a huge wardrobe. The topography, deformation, animation, weighting, make a body great. Judging a body based on how many armors there are for it literally judging a body for its popularity.
By that logic, the vanilla body is the best body.

 

The only advantage, in my mind, to using UNP or CBBE is accessibility - bodies like 7base and Dream Girl are superior in every way. The more people that use them, the more armors they will have, and the more programs that will support them.

Furthermore, nobody actually uses all of the armor mods they install. Ultimately, you will use a few armors that you like a lot and nothing else. 

 

CBBE and UNP have lots of armors, yes, but they are rather dated and it shows. They're fine until you spot the sponge knees or UNP's famous ass triangle.
I would recommend CBBE and UNP only to someone who is completely incompetent with modding. Otherwise, pick a better one that suits your tastes, make conversions for your favorite armors using one of the easy programs, and upload them for the other users of the same body.

With CBBE you can set the shape to anything, in bodyslide they have duplicates of the variouse different body mods and you can build your own. As for textures and shapes this can fixed depending on the texture mod you use and the Skeleton you use. 

 

I use:

XP32 Max Skeleton Extended: and have NO absolutely NO flat areas or wierd spots. Often times these are caused by an incompatibility between an Animation and your skeleton mod NOT your body.

 

Fair Skin Complextion: this is the Skin Texture I use and it is extremely high quality and the skin looks great as does every other part of the body. Again This is NOT CBBE it depends on the texture mod you have installed and rather your system can handle high end textures. If you don't like a certain Texture find a good texture mod and the skin along with genitals will look better.

 

SG Textures: This is another great Texture mod.

 

HDT: I use HDT for ass and breast animations because it is far Superior. The animations are far more fluid and some very cool things are being developed for it. 

 

You do not Sacrafice anything when choosing CBBE you just gain the ability to custom your body to fit what you want. If you don't like CBBE's textures download another one that you like. As for weird flat areas caused by animations this is due to your skeleton and the animation your using not your body mod. Alot of skeletons will add extra vertices and bones to a mesh. Just make sure you have a good skeleton.

 

PS: ECE will also add extra options for your vertices if using XP32 adding a vast amount of extra sliders.

The one at the beginning wearing the white knitted dress? UNP or 7Base is what he generally uses for his character in those videos. That looked to be a version of 7B.

thanks for the response. another person told me cbbe. but you seem wiser -- what with all your replies. Are you confident that its UNP or 7base? I think I'd like to model my game after his -- copy his mods for people

I know that MXR used UNPB then 7Base then a couple of his videos recently using Dream Girl. Don't let post count fool you, though. A lot of those were made while asking questions! And I know some people here with fewer are more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to this stuff.

 

But I do know MXR isn't using CBBE bodies. For sure.

If you are using a UNP variant you can equip other UNP variant armors without seeing any messed up textures, but the body will morph into whatever the clothing was made for. For example, use UNP and equip UNPB stuff then the boobs get bigger.

 

If you use CBBE on UNP (or vice versa) you'll see texture problems and maybe even misalignment of hands and feet.

if you would be so kind -- can you tell me what the difference between unp, unpb, 7base, and dream girl is? i have a 27 inch monitor with 1440p so i want high res if possible
