Ctd on start up. Please help.

My Skyrim crashes on me, even with all plugins and esm's disabled.

It used to be instant, but after I installed CTD and Memory patch ENBoost by Boris Vorontsov, I at least get a few seconds of screentime.

I've tried reinstalling Skyrim, I've tried deleting mods, clean data folder & reinstall mods, I've tried the enblocal.ini tweaks at http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244/?...Nothing seems to help.

The crashing started after I had a mod-install spree and had to merge some mods to get under the 255 mod limit. I thought at first it might be the merged patched I made that had messed something up, but then my game kept crashing even after I uninstalled those.

 

Any help to get my game running again will be much appreciated.

Are you running an ENB by chance? I'm having the same issue with ENB host in my game file. If the same issue occurs with all your mods disabled it's something in your game folder - I'm thinking.

I'm not and never have. The game used to run fine with the optimisation mods I already had installed. :/

When exactly does it crash? When it shows the logo? Or can you get the menu? If you can get to the menu does it crash if you launch a new game?

It crashes right before the menu. I get the splash screen, with some ENB notifications in the upper left corner.

Are you by chance running the latest EVGA Precision Tune? if so, That's your issue. I updated it and my skyrim CTDs if it is running and I'm using a ENB or ENBOOST, turn off either the enb or precision tune and everything worked fine. Since you have done a clean reinstall of skyrim < i assume you deleted the skyrim folder and resinstalled> you might try turning off any programs running in the background one by one and see if they might be the culprit

If you are crashing at that logo it is most of the time a missing master file or load order issue.

SInce you see the loading screen with the enb message i bet it's one of the additional components, a dll, either enb or skse and no crash because of missing mods or load order.

With mod problems i always have a crash before seeing this part of the loading screen.

skse would crash a little bit later i think leaving enb.

I think you will have to remove or reinstall your enb version.

Well to be clear when I said missing master. I meant something a mod needs that is not loaded. That includes ENB's, SKSE etc. Normally when it crashes there it is crashing during the file load of the game. When it is activating everything and it crashes because something that is needed is missing.

 

Most likely the post above mine is correct. Completely remove your ENB and all aspects from it. Then try loading the game with no ENB and see if it runs. If it does then you have your answer.

I didn't install the ENB until someone suggested installing it as a fix to ctd'ing. Installing it actually made the game run long enough to fill up a papyrus error log, instead of just crashing instantly and silently, with an empty log as shown in post 7.

 

But thanks for the suggestions.

I guess the next step is to install ~260 mods one by one and see which one, if any, causes the problem. Fun times ahead...

I dealt with this sort of crashing recently, I found that it is due to a missing dependency. Turned out I forgot to download my HDT, so the .esm was missing. Everything with heels was making me crash right after the logo.

I have HDT Physics Extension, HDT HighHeels System and Sexlab HDT High Heels installed. Are those what you meant? If not, might you have a link to the missing .esm?

If anyone's still interested, I think I've narrowed it down to letting other mods overwrite XPSME. I specifically avoided doing during my latest reinstall, and now my game runs.
