Gagoloth Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Its a real shame when a really good mod goes unnoticed. This thread is going to be about mods that haven't gotten attention they deserve. In this thread ill post links and paste descriptions of mods.Skeletons of Daggerfall Long ago, in the land of Daggerfall, there lived a creature with such a fearsome screech that all who listened were instantly filled with fear. Now, in the land of Skyrim, the creature has returned. It's name: The Skeleton. Wait a minute. Skeletons make wimpy noises, right? Not anymore! Now all skeletons in Skyrim make the high pitched screeches that are straight from the Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. Now all Skyrim skeletons make the same noises as the Daggerfall Skeletons. The Graves of Falkreath Expands on the size and variety of Falkreath's gravesite by adding new tombstones (models and textures) and more tombstones in general. Improved Dragonrend Shout The original Dragonrend shout just causes Dragons to safely land when they feel like it and sometimes they keeps flying and flies away so far that you don't have the time to chase after it. Also at times this shout don't seem to work at all when the dragons keep flying away, but not any more. This mod forces dragons to immediately land on ground when dragonrend shout use on them and even forces them to crash landing regardless for their health status thus making dragonrend the more powerful shout. Peaceful Mudcrabs Regular mudcrabs will not attack you now. The bigger one's will still attack you. If you attack them of course, they will respond. No Combat Boundaries and Unofficial Encounter Zone Patch No Combat Boundaries is a simple plugin that disables combat boundaries in every encounter zone, which allows enemies to follow you to different zones. For example, if you engage a huge troll in a cave and then run scared outside, the troll will follow you outside. Note: Combat boundaries may prevent game-breaking behavior. Please save before drawing quest-related enemies into other zones. Dragon Blood In simple terms, a vial of dragon's blood will bestow upon you an extra perk point. This is meant as an alternative to the excellent dragon souls to perks mod, which I loved and have been using since release, but I always wanted to cut out the middle man of having to go to those stones and fiddle about with custom menus. Please note, this mod does not affect the dragon soul mechanics in any way. Nor does it aim to. Jaxonz Archery Focus Third person to first person when drawing bow back. Crime Bounty Decay (recommended) Skyrim's crime system seemed like something of a wasted potential. It's got the whole Dukes of Hazzard, "get across county lines" thing going, where your crimes in one hold have no weight in another...except that the guards never forget about that time you hung around in the apothecary's too long after closing time, so you eventually have to pay your fines off anyway, or else deal with the guards saying "Wait...I know you" every time you pass by. Well, no more. Now, your crimes will slowly be forgotten when you spend time in other holds, reducing the bounty that you have to pay to be redeemed before the eyes of gods and man and mer, and eventually leaving you entirely in the clear. Every night, at midnight, (or at the nearest time afterward that the script has the chance to evaluate), your bounty will decrease in every hold, as long as you're not actually in the main settlement of that hold at the time Melee Weapon Range Fix (recommended) This is a very small mod I made to address two issues: 1. I was quite annoyed by the fact that a longsword could hit a wall or objects from too far away. I play 1stPerson as much as possible, but even there I found it quite annoying. I didn't found anything which addresses this problem so I made it myself and I thought that some of you would like to have a fix for that as well. 2. The second thing I address with this mod is the fighting distance. The distance you must have to hit an enemy now is much more realistic, that means no more getting hit by the air in front of the enemies weapon. Flora Respawn Fix You've hit this bug, even if you don't know it. Every time you went to a place after the cell was supposed to reset, and wondered "hey why haven't those plants respawned yet?" it's this bug. When you go to Solitude and you see those Nightshade there and then you go grab a cup of coffee and come back and restart the game and they're gone, it's this bug. FloraRespawnFix.esp fixes this bug. Morrowindic Sneak Attack and Critical Hit Sound Changed the annoying drum sound when the player performs a sneak attack or critical hit. For the ones those miss old Morang Tong days in Morrowind. All Geared Up All Geared Up displays unequipped favorited weapons and shields on the player character, and can also display weapons equipped in the left hand. Bows and crossbows are not currently supported due to technical issues. Models of unequipped weapons on the right-hand side have to be removed before equipping said weapons due to technical reasons. If one doesn't do that, then one may end up with an invisible weapon in the player character's hand(s). You can either always enter the Favorites menu when switching weapons or use the custom hotkeys provided by the mod in order to remove the model(s) before equipping a weapon in the right hand. Also applies to two-handed melee weapons. Note* weapon and shield placement can be disabled for use with Equipping overhaul. Green Lods This simple changes the yellow lods to green ones Burnt Corpses This is a retexture for burnt corpses. Swift Steeds Shadowmere This replaces the vanilla shadowmere with a light breed horse. Swift Steeds Frost This replaces the vanilla frost with a light breed horse. Seranas Vampiric Sword Dawnguard Addon Adds new standalone, unique one-handed sword in the game. I made this weapon from scratch, was a bit inspired after Dawnguard DLC was announced. Weapon can be improved and crafted once ebony smithing perk is acquired. Serana will have this weapon in hers inventory from the start. Also there is more powerful, enchanted version of this sword called Voldiir's Tongue, you can find it in Volkihar castle, North tower. Thrassian Plaguesword (recommended) Investigate a scholar's expedition to western Skyrim on the trail of possible Sload activity, discover new books and a unique weapon of a culture alien to Tamriel, and gain possession of a small but functional new player home.Thrassian Plaguesword is both a unique new scratch-built sword, and an accompanying lore-friendly mini-quest for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, featuring several new books written specifically for the mod. Travel to Rorikstead and investigate a shack just outside town to begin the quest.Complete a lore-rich new mini-questAcquire the Thrassian Plaguesword, a venomous artifact of the Sload raceFind new lore-friendly books and itemsAcquire a functional player home near Rorikstead with storage and craftingThe quest is short, and not designed with fast travel or button-mashing in mind, but rather roleplay, exploration and lore detail. Some of the mod's darker themes and subtleties assume a mature audience. Bloody Cannibalism This mod makes feeding on victims leave behind bloody remains, be it as a werewolf or with the Ring of Namira. The Ring of Namira buff is slightly changed, and can be further improved by consuming Namira's Blight, an otherwise toxic sludge. Cannibalism is also considered a more serious crime. It Rained On This mod will make puddles around cities in some spots (where I believe they would fit) while it's raining, as it rains those puddles will grow until they reach a certain limit then they will stay until it stops raining, then they'll get smaller until they dissapear. Creepy zombies Adds zombies to skyrim. Shard of Oblivion WIP A work in progress mod that's aim is to add an oblivion realm and adventure to skyrim. Primal Fear Equipping a torch protects you from certain beasts. They won't attack you on sight anymore, but they'll stalk you until your torch runs out, or they find an easier target. Getting too close with your torch will cause them to flee. See the screenshots for a visual representation. New features in Dynamic Mode allow beasts to advance slowly on you and attack during the day. During the night and in dark environments, beasts become more cautious of your torch and flee as you get close. ThirteenOranges Mods STEAM and a VALID copy of skyrim required. Faction: Pit Fighter Travels Add-On Pit Fighter Travels is an Add-On for An Elder Scrolls Faction: Pit Fighter which provides multiple new pit fight locations and rewards as well as new creatures, weapons and armor. Both the original Pit Fighter and Dawnguard are required to play. Faction: Pit FighterPit Fighter contains an all new faction to join, complete with NPCs, progression through the ranks, unique rewards and side quests. Places: Granitehall Granitehall was a small village built around the Imperial Fort of the same name. Rumors and folktales tell of a great tragedy there many years ago, and the mysterious circumstancies surrounding it. Since that time the village has fallen to ruin and been overgrown by the forests around it. Places: Laintar Dale -Hearthfire Edition- Laintar Dale is a small township in the snowy woods of The Pale. The place lies just off the main road between Whiterun and Dawnstar, hidden in the woods. Laintar Dale, as it is today consists of a manor and out buildings (now privately owned) and the Laintar Dale Smithy, run by the orc blacksmith Murzush gra-Ushar. Places: Oakwood -Hearthfire Edition- Oakwood is a small hamlet in Falkreath hold on the road between Falkreath and Riverwood. The inhabitants of Oakwood survive by hunting in the surrounding forests and fishing on the shores of Lake Ilinalta where the village is situated, as well as trading with merchants, farmers, hunters or adventurers who often stop on the road to Falkreath. Places: Laintar Dale Laintar Dale is a small township in the snowy woods of The Pale. The place lies just off the main road between Whiterun and Dawnstar, hidden in the woods. Laintar Dale, as it is today consists of a manor and out buildings (now privately owned) and the Laintar Dale Smithy, run by the orc blacksmith Murzush gra-Ushar. Places: Amber Guard Amber Guard was a small village in the Reach that has fallen to ruin over the last two centuries since the events of Arena. The ruins of the village are home to a band of dangerous bandits raiding the roads of Whiterun Hold since the increased Forsworn activity has driven them from The Reach. Places: Oakwood Oakwood is a small hamlet in Falkreath hold on the road between Falkreath and Riverwood. The inhabitants of Oakwood survive by hunting in the surrounding forests and fishing on the shores of Lake Ilinalta where the village is situated, as well as trading with merchants, farmers, hunters or adventurers who often stop on the road to Falkreath. Quest: Sorcery The forgotten treasure of a great Sorcerer lies hidden in a long abandoned tower, kept away from the world and its perils for many long years. Time has come to unravel the Sorcerer's mysteries. Travel to the mountains of the West Reach to find the Sorcerer's Tower and uncover it's many secrets. What perils guard The Treasure, and what ordeals must be survived to gain access to The Sorcerer's Realm? Quest: Sea Of Ghosts The Sea Of Ghosts are the cold and dangerous waters on the northern coasts of Tamriel. Among the mists and fog lie many secrets, treasures and stories long since forgotten. Travel these dangerous waters with the crew of The Winter's Warmth, exploring many new locations throughout the Sea of Ghosts. Quest: And the Realms of Daedra In the early days of the First Era the Chimer warlord Ornarol made a pact with the Daedra before betraying them to his own ends. When his deceit was discovered the three Daedric Princes tore his soul asunder, each taking part of his soul as a trophy, leaving bridges between his remains and their realms of oblivion. Embark on a dangerous quest to steal back Ornarol's Soul and close these gateways to oblivion once and for all. Quest: No Mercy A messenger has been sent from a small chapel of Stendarr to the Vigilant at Stendarr's Beacon, seeking aid against an unknown evil, but the messenger never made it to her destination. Investigate events at Stendarr's Chapel and explore the dark and dangerous undercroft, sewers and caves below. Quest: The Bigger They Are A great hero of the Companions lies dead before he could defeat his greatest quest, the slaying of the great giant, Barlok'Gosh. Take up the arms of Holfir Giant Slayer and travel dangerous roads and caves to find Barlok'Gosh and finish what he started. Kill Moves - No Blur Removes most of the Blur effects from finisher moves. See your kills more clearly than ever. Simple. Matys Mithril I have strongly used oblivions Mithril armor as an inspiration and have tried to replicate it as much as possible but still tried to give it a new look for skyrim. I have made all the assets or adapted Skyrims ones so please don't accuse me of stealing as it took me ages to get certain parts as close as possible! . But I suppose it would be a compliment if you did If you like this mod then why not check out my other mods "KNIGHTS OF THE NINE" and "MATYS MEDIEVAL KNIGHTS". Horns Are Forever Horns on Argonians will always show, except on headgear that covers the entire head. Aurora - Standing Stones of Skyrim Aurora replaces the default Doomstone (standing stone) effects with tactical and interesting new powers and abilities. Each Doomstone comes with one passive ability and one active power, adding up to 13 Doomstones. Most powers and abilities use custom graphics and scripted effects. Smarter Combat Music In the vanilla game, the combat music is often the first sign that you have been targeted by an unseen enemy. Many consider this a break in immersion, as well as conferring an unfair advantage to the player.SCM does away with that, forcing you remain alert and be aware of your surroundings. SCM keeps track of the player's combat state, as well as that of nearby hostile actors. When enemies detect you but you have not yet seen them, the normal music will continue playing as if all is well. Only upon hitting, being hit or spotting the opponent before they reach you will the combat music play. You can also use a more subtle cue: the normal background music will fade when you are spotted. This provides a gentle, more immersive warning and allows you to better hear your attacker's approach. If you are struck by an unseen opponent or while your weapons are sheathed, a startling musical "stinger" can be played before combat music begins, adding tension to the fight. After a particularly grueling battle with many opponents, a short musical fanfare or reward track can be played to celebrate your victory against overwhelming odds. This can be customized to one of two built-in victory tracks, or a custom track of your own choosing. All features are optional and can be controlled through SkyUI's MCM. SCM's features will not be applied to dragon fights, ensuring the music is played. Oghma Infinium - A Training Station It modifies the Oghma Infinium to act as a training station. You open the book, select a path, select a skill and then train the skill in exchange for gold. It's just like training with a trainer, but without all the non-sense. True Alteration Armor Visuals This mod changes the look of the protection spells (the visuals actually represent the material). Fast Sit 'n Relax with Follower Support and a fistful of buffs Simply allows you to fire an idle instantly without doing any time consuming stuff. It comes with Follower support & a fistful of cool buffs, cinematic style camera and more...! Guards attack thugs assassins and more Bethesda thought it would be a good idea to watch an innocent citizen get hacked to pieces by thugs for hire while guards just stood there. This changes that. Guards will now attack hired thugs, assassins, along with dueling mages, [if you decline to duel them] and visa versa. College Visitor Pass This mod changes the conversation with Faralda so that you can bri- donate money to the college to help further its research goals. This of course brings you special benefits, such as the ability to use the college's facilities without being a member. You will not gain access to member exclusive services such as skill training. This allows you to complete quests that would otherwise require you to join the College to complete, despite being otherwise un-related to the College. Some quests however do require membership, I do not have a definitive list however. End of original post. All updates to this thread will be posted below this. Additional mods. Skyrim Search Plugin This plugin adds some console commands that allows you to search for cells, quests, and npcs by FormID/EditorID/Name using this plugin. (including CELL COC Codes, NPC RefID, QUEST Stages) Also, this plugin SUPPORTS ALL mods. Reversed Daggers Adds a (Reversed) Variation of most usable daggers in the game and smithing recipes to create a reversed dagger or change it back. To Reverse a dagger take it to the Anvil at the blacksmith with 1 ingot of the same type to create the reversed version of it. Do the same again to change it back. Having the main hand reversed will also reverse the sheath and cause some finisher animations to look odd so if it bugs you, I'd advice using a reversed dagger only in the off hand. Reversing sharpened or enchanted daggers will remove the upgrade/enchantment. Enhanced Character Edit - More Body Sliders TL;DR Adds more sliders to ECE to directly control the scale and relative position of skeleton nodes (literally, parts of your character's body) while ingame, to help tweak bodies to the "perfect" shape more easily. Skip to Information or Installation if you hate reading. Though, even if you hate reading, you may want to read the update information if you already have version C or older installed. Clean up your Corpses desecrate your enemy's bodies in many different ways. Skyrim Reforestation Project - Build your own Forest - Trees and Foliage Magic Have you ever wanted to make the landscape more beautiful, the fields more flowery, the forests more lush or simply decorate your player-home garden with more flora? Now you can place any tree, foliage or plant available in Skyrim anywhere you want - as how you want them to be. Skyrim Reforestation Project is a collection of 101 spells that will allow you to build your own forest or garden in any piece of land. This mod gives you control on choosing and placing foliage. You'll be equipped with a comprehensive array of spells that you can use to populate the landscape with all types of trees, static flora, shrubs, flowers, ferns, and even forest clutter like dead logs, branches and tree stumps, etc. You can combine them, cast them multiple times or even put them where you least expect them to be. Have it your way... Immersive Content - Extinguished Daytime Fires and Lights This mod adds more lanterns, Braziers and Torches around the land of skyrim, all these are scriptcontrolled and will change with the time of Day. At night all lights will burn with the fire animation enabled, during day the fire will be disabled so in other words my mission is to make skyrim feel more realistic during day and night instead of fires burning bright 24/7.I also included the lightsources themselves in the script so fires and lights will go out at the same time. No Psychic Lock Knowledge This simple mod removes the visual tag that lets you know if a lock is apprentice, adept, master, etc. - now you need to try and pick the lock and judge the difficulty level yourself! Gehenoth (recommended) This mod adds the monster called Gehenoth from the mobile game "TES Travels: Dawnstar" to Skyrim. Asgrims Hold and DrHkls Forgotten Realms Weaponry Clear your inventory or at least a weapon plaque or two; you are gonna want these. Some may remember my mod for Oblivion...well let's just say I learned a few things since then. The mod includes a tough dungeon located across the river from Riverwood. Inside you will find 6 new weapons. Twinkle, IcingDeath, Charon's Claw, Artemis Entreri's Dagger, Tunder-Klap and Soulreaver. Id like this thread to be an open one. if you believe you have or know any mods that you think are underrated please post a description and link to the mod. The point of this thread is to give exposure to these great mods.
afz53fu Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Thank you, dragon blood and crime bounty decay added to my game.
jordisslave Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Thanks. Adding Bounty Decay and Guards Attack Thugs to my game. I would add Holdran, Nightgate and sawmill villages. Adds some larger villages, with a number of NPCs in each location. Makes walking around the map a lot less bleak sometimes. A number of the mods you've listed have thousands of downloads and only a few hundred endorsements, I was going to start a thread about this but didn't expect any answers. On here too there are many mods with loads of downloads, really long support threads full of approval and almost no endorsements. Do contributors not care or can no-one be bothered with the endorsement system or do that many people accidentally download well-described mods and then decide they don't like them or don't appreciate the effort put in? Trapped In Rubber has 25 pages of issues but loads of approval, 6,000 downloads and only 36 ratings, for example, Petcollar 6,000 downloads 6(!) ratings, QAYL 17,000 downloads, 26 votes, Sexlab itself over a million downloads and 245 ratings. Not completely OT but shutting up now.

Not completely OT but shutting up now. One of my biggest problems with the nexus is that good mods can easily be buried behind twenty plus pages of other mods. the current system of endorsements can either make or break a mods popularity, support and knowledge about a good mod that was posted. They may get a couple thousand downloads at first but call these download leaches. What happens is that the mod after a couple of weeks, months and years is left behind many many pages with low endorsements and high initial downloads. But like allot of the mods i linked above they get lost into the void of good and bad (mostly bad) that is the nexus. As for downloads here on the LL there needs to be improvements implemented. Good mods here can very easily be lost or forgotten about. I will say one thing though about the LL. The community and moderators are FAR FAAAAAAR better here on the LL then on the nexus.
Rayblue Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Some modders are better at marketing than others. Yes, which is why some of those little mods get buried.
Xaliber Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Excellent list. Here are some of my favorites: Bandit Raid - adds a little surprise when I went back from my adventure by adding a random chance of a bandit raid on cities and towns each time I visit the said city/town - the fights are tough since the bandits seem to be leveled. Named bosses in Skyrim, The Bigger They Are, and Behemyths - Alpha Creature - if you want some challenge, these mods will give it. It places various creatures and dragons in certain places, ala traditional RPG. You need to avoid certain area if you don't want to meet certain death if your level is not high enough. AI Archery Range - enables enemy archers to snipe you from long distance NPC Smarter Water AI - allows enemies to swim, so you can no longer cheat by swimming across the river when chased by bandits And a few mods that makes Whiterun a war-torn city. PsychoMachina Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Something I saw some time ago, but never got around to try it. Too Long Since We Had a Good Bandit Raid Whenever a guard says "I mostly deal with petty thievery and drunken brawls. Been too longsince we've had a good bandit raid" - BAMM! - bandits raid the city or town.
Gagoloth Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 NPC Smarter Water AI - allows enemies to swim, so you can no longer cheat by swimming across the river when chased by bandits Ill be adding this one to my load order. Thanks for sharing.
Vivi Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Could really use some under appreciated quest/adventure mods to be honest. The mainstream ones are all like "thanks, but I think I pass"

bleagh Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I can't live without this little gem. Super easy to buy meals in inns or eat food lying around, the quick barter feature is fantastic. Very useful for folks who use basic needs mods. "I'm a Customer Dammit" by Lofgren http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59702/?

Vivi Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Descent Into Madness Descent Into Madness is a split quest epic mod in the Sheogorath scheme of TES adding over a hour of game play for each side. To start your epic journey Take a nap in your bed at Breezehome, you need it you're tired. Thanks for the list I completed DiM some time ago, I didn't like it to be honest However, I am going to try Azura’s Watch & The Frontier, been in my bookmark since weeks now, but I totally forgot about them lol. But I guess they fit in this topic nicely.
NNS10 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 PBP - Portable Backpack A real backpack. It doesn't add carry weight. Instead, you can store items inside the backpack. Items inside the backpack will be reduced by a certain percentage in weight (configurable) to reflect the lower encumbrance due to the backpack. The key thing I like about this is the backpack is an actual container. You can put all your non-essentials into it, and when you get into town and rent a room (via Perseids Inns and Taverns - Enhanced), you can quickly drop off the backpack in your room and then be off to adventure. It's a great mod for wandering characters. Storage Helpers It allows you to turn items into portable containers. It basically allows you to do the same thing as Portable Backpack, but it's a little more generic. It has a lot more other functionality, but I used it for the portable container feature before Portable Backpack came out.
zzz72w3r Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 HDT Skyrim Ordering Independent Transparency or HDT-OIT http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51505/? By HydrogensaysHDT, the author of HDT-PE and HDT-highheels Very few downloads and no outfit on Nexus or LL uses it. Very surprising given her renown but Hydrogen is still updating the mod despite lack of third party support.
zzz72w3r Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Cool list but I think there needs to be some cutoff of what is considered "underrated" or "unnoticed". Just to name a couple of example, Seranas Vampire Sword Dawnguard Addon has almost 150,000 views and Flora Respawn Fix has almost 30,000 downloads on Nexus. These two and many others mentioned or listed on OP are hardly unnoticed. We already have the "what mod is this" and "where can I find" threads for people looking for stuff. Personally anything with over 5,000 downloads or is less than 6 months old on Nexus is not really overlooked as most mods are niche.
