ao2thend Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 The only other Comparison that I've seen that I think is good is here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60685/? Its even got spreadsheets n' stuff!!! The only reason I did my comparison shots is because I've not seen comparison shots that show ENB's "in use." There are plenty of comparison shots out there, but they often seem to have bland textures, not much use of FOV and don't set up the shots very well. I felt that if anything, it took away from the look of those ENB's and made them seem less then they were. An ENB doesn't magically make your game better, there's a lot of other stuff you need to put into it. But as far as resources go, that comparison set I posted is good for current ENB's and the one you posted is good for anyone still using the older binaries (older binaries give better performance most of the time so some people still use them).
Taskmaster Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 When it comes down to it, we're using ENB for looks. If someone finds a particular preset that requires an older binary, it's all good. I think all the comparisons can be just as valuable as others, as long as people looking at them know what's going on with what's being compared. I didn't post it with the intention of devaluing the fine work you've shared with us, man. Quite the opposite in fact; to give it even more validation.
ao2thend Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Oh don't worry about it. I got no problem with you posting the link and didn't think you were doing anything to devalue my work. I was just giving my opinion on the link (which was that it looks at older binaries but no new ones).
Gunthral Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hello together, I'm the "creator" of the mentioned comparison series and just want to say something here (hey, even registered right before for that^^). At first let me say, that this is a really nice comparison archive, ao2thend. I even found something that will be included in the next release as a new scene, so thank for that (Credit will be given of course). So... the main reason I'm writing this is becaus I want to inform that a really, really big update is coming. I finally found a way to take various other scenes in an comparisonable way, that's satisfying me (at least, mostly). The update with over 200 new pics will be uploaded sometime today. With this uploaded there are remaining very few presets that I want to include for the moment. I will then go onto updating all the already included presets to the "new scheme". Stay tuned
ao2thend Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Hey Gunthral, Just looked at your page and I gotta say good job. 1416 screenshots is quite a feat and you've done a great job of showing the performance hit each ENB has. Keep up the good work.
Gunthral Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hello again and thanks for feedback So, update is uploaded, yeah. I need some time to update the description properly to the new status (likely tomorrow evening). Just to clarify: The new scenerie shots are of course NOT present for all the ENBs (in fact only for 9 presets) because that would result in way over 2000 screenshots for the whole package. I'll include them over time respectively when a covered preset gets an update. Greetings Gunthral
ao2thend Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Sounds good, Thanks again for the hard work.
Gunthral Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Hrmpf... I'm an idiot... accidentally closed the browser tab after adding alot of new informations to the descriptions... Anyway, another try tomorrow
trpd Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Nice comparison, comes in handy as i'm in need of changing ENB - realvision makes skin textures bleh in shadowed areas . ( character with complex skin texture (SG/mature) , day but under strong shadow - no direct light source). Do you need to change all requirements when changing ENB ? I mean if it is not stated as "will conflict with" it should be fine right? LIke i see that they recommend often "darker dungeons" while i use ELFX that make them dark enough already....
ao2thend Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 Different ENB's will react oddly with lighting mods they were not made for, but no you don't have to use the recommended lighting and weather mods. That being said, it usually ends up looking better when having the recommended mods activated with the ENB.
ray_falkner Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Hi, ao2thend, just want to express my gratitude to you for your effort of compiling all these comparison shots. Very helpful, thank you. Oh and in your process of taking screenshots with each of these ENBs, are you using the recommended / required mods for each individual ENBs? Or is it that you're taking the shots as is, without any other frills?
ao2thend Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 Hi, ao2thend, just want to express my gratitude to you for your effort of compiling all these comparison shots. Very helpful, thank you. Oh and in your process of taking screenshots with each of these ENBs, are you using the recommended / required mods for each individual ENBs? Or is it that you're taking the shots as is, without any other frills? I used the required/recommended plugins for each ENB in this archive. If an ENB didn't have anything required or recommended, I'd use it as is. If an ENB had compatibility for multiple mods, I'd pick one and use it, instead of trying it with both or something like that. Glad There's still some folks using this archive. its starting to show some age as some ENB's have been updated or even removed since then.
zzz72w3r Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 These shots are really useful for people like me who are timid of switching ENB. May I ask when is 2.0 taken or with which version of binary? I am currently using Serenity 8.2 but after looking at your archive I am tempted to go with CR for its superior character rendering. I am reluctant given CR is still using COT and ELFX and for my next 0.266 binary update I would like to ditch custom weather and lighting mods, and that Serenity 12.final supposedly has vastly improved its character rendering. Thanks again. EDIT: Serenity has been removed by author and the new.final version is now Serenity EFX2.3: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62411/? EDIT2: I would love to see comparison shots of ENB that's based on 0.266 binary for 3.0.
ao2thend Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 I took the shots sometime in January so it is fairly old. The newest Binary at the time was .265 if i'm not mistaken (could have been .264 but I don't remember). Taking the shots for all the new and updated ENB's would be a bit of a chore, but if I limited it to ones that updated to .266, that might be less agonizing. I might do an update sometime in the future, but I'll probably wait a bit and see if anything new comes out in the world of ENB's.
pinky6225 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 not to necro but this would be a good sticky thread as the ENB screenshots / links to ENB's just proved very useful when i decided to change mine
