JRCosta Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Hello there. Last weekend I did a fresh Skyrim Legendary install via steam (my older installation was full of manual installs and I wanted to try a different gameplay), so after everything set up and working fine without CTD or any bugs, it was ENB time. I have installed this ENB, Dynavision, follow the instructions, limited the frames to 60 and test ingame. After 8 hours of gameplay with only 1 CTD (a killmove that got stuck) everything looks fine and happy with the ENB looks, the performance (fps) is usually 30-50 except in waterfalls from far, where the frame drops to 10! If I stand near the waterfall, it goes to 30-40, some steps away drops again to 10. After some reading and browsing for similar problems (and little .ini tweaking), I finally realize that without a fps limiter, the fps stays at 30-40 in waterfalls but the overall gameplay fps boosts to 80-100. I tried to limit using the NVIDIA control panel - Vertical Sync - Adaptative (half refresh rate), but no effect, the fps are still too high and I'm not comfortable with that. I have a NVIDIA GEForce GTX 650 T (1GB), 8GB RAM, CPU Intel i3-3240 3,40GHz, Win7 SP1. Monitor is at 60Hz. So my question: is there a way to limit to 60fps to avoid the potential weird physique glitches due to high fps? And I have read a lot about a NVIDIA inspector, but I'm unsure using if using another program is the right way - and how to properly set it up correctly. Any advices? Thank you.
Dubhorizon Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Sometimes Nvidia's Vsync doesn't work from the Nvidia Control panel. I have the same problem with you. I fixed it by using Nvidia Inspector. Find the Skyrim profile throught there and vsync.
dark_vampire Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 You said "you have done some reading and browsing for a solution" so forgive me if you have already came across these suggestions I'm gonna throw up. I honestly can't tell you which one to try, I had your same graphics card but upgraded so gave it to my wife. Anyways here if a quick things I found let me know if any of them works or I'll continue on trying to find something if needed. 1) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34/? 2) http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php/topic/47061-nvidia-hidden-fps-limiter/ 3) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6143/? Good Luck
Groovtama Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Frame Limiter in enblocal ini to 60, VSYNC in Skyrim ini, enblocal.ini and Nvidia controll panel all three on off (for Nvidia apllication controlled does the same), it greatly reduces lag and doesn't come with physics bugs and also fixes some.

I'm not very keen to use 3rd party software, but definitively going to read some more about this. Good Luck Yes, I have read a lot and because of contradictions on how to do it, I'm feeling confused. 1 - FPS Limiter: I have read the forum opinions for this, the instructions in the main page are not very clear but some users explained the procedure and it seems does not work for everyone. This is tagged for trying in despair 2 - This I will give a go. Has some good feedback around the forums, just wanted to ear if anyone tried here too. 3 - This one I didn't come across (I was searching mostly on tech forums, not mod ones) and it works along NVIDIA Inspector. good find, thanks Frame Limiter in enblocal ini to 60, VSYNC in Skyrim ini, enblocal.ini and Nvidia controll panel all three on off (for Nvidia apllication controlled does the same), it greatly reduces lag and doesn't come with physics bugs and also fixes some. I had the fps limiter in inblocal capped to 60, V-Sync off in NVIDIA Control panel and enblocal for sure; not sure if I touched the Skyrim.ini, seems like the first thing to try. Thank you all for your help, I'll give feedback later!
Dubhorizon Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I'm not very keen to use 3rd party software, but definitively going to read some more about this. I can understand you. It's from guru3d though, which I trust completely. Been downloading drivers from them for ages. Also you only need to run it once, set the driver's vsync for skyrim and you won't have to open it ever again. If you change your mind also take a look at GpuZ and RealTempGT that are very useful as well.
