NMM Refuses to Acknowledge Mod

I was attempting to install a mod (Ruins Clutter Improved- NMM version, for what it's worth) with NMM.  But, NMM didn't indicate that any new mod had been loaded.  So, I tried loading it, again.  It neither indicated that a new mod had been loaded, nor that a mod with that name already existed.

Other than installing the mod manually-- which I know is, as a rule, a bad idea and does not actually explain what is causing my problem, anyway-- I have absolutely no idea of what to try.  Might anyone else be able to suggest what is going wrong with my NMM, and some way to fix it?

Unzip the mod and make sure it was set up correctly. There should be data folder inside it should be meshes and textures with the .esp outside of those folders if it is inside one of them or inside a different folder it needs to be moved and rerared back up.

I just tried loading ANOTHER mod into my NMM, and it won't register, either.  Now, I'm starting to suspect that my whole NMM is screwed-up.

I'm going to look for another mod I might want to use and try to load it.  If it won't load, either, then it may be pretty safe to say that I need help with my whole NMM.

When you reinstall NMM, don't use repair option, but uninstall it and install again. Then NMM will scan for the games that it supports. It will scan your computer for the games. If it does that, then you know that NMM is installed correctly. Then you just select Skyrim (and all the other game you have that NMM supports)

Ah, o.k.

I had hoped beyond hope that you had some method by which it might automatically detect my mods that were already installed in the game.

Will I need to uninstall them all before I uninstall NMM, then?  I've never previously had to uninstall a defective mod manager.

NMM has an archives folder where it keeps all the mods you've ever installed into it. Make sure you save that to another location (to use for reinstalling mods) if you don't want to go hunting down mods again or losing one because a high strung mod creator went off the deep end and deleted/banned everything.

Thanks for the reply. :)

I store all of the mods I download in my own database before installing them with NMM.  If I suspect that I might have trouble finding the download page, again, I store the URL, possibly along with information from the description page, as a text file with the downloaded mod.

I started out doing it more to save myself downloading time and to safeguard myself from internet outages when I had to reinstall; but, it has ended up coming in handy when authors have been vanished from the Nexus, or they withdrew their work from public view.
