Grey prince quest missing

i try to talk to the grey prince arena ogre guy and i get the message I HAVE NO GREETING  a yellow bar appears at the top of the screen and there's no dialogue options what do i do?

Your problem starts with the above.  Whenever you see that in your load order that is a hint that you need to do some reshuffling.  The above error is caused from you either have a wrong load order (dependent above a master) or a missing master esm\esp\bsa file.

One of your mods is probably causing the I have no greeting message. Some lovers mods have that but I don't see any in the load order.

 

These you *need* to fix.  Might be the cause of the problem.

First of all: Is the Gray Prince the only NPC affected?

 

Or did you just notice the NO GREETING bug with this NPC, and others are doing the same regardless of their race? In that case the solution is very simple: A sure-fire way to trigger this bug is by entering the Shivering Isles worldspace and then exiting it any other way than through the 'Strange Door/Door To Cyrodiil' portal - by a teleportation spell from some mod, or a coc console command. In that case the fix is simply going back to the Isles and exiting it the correct way through the portal.

 

If indeed Agronak is the only NPC affected, one (or more) of your installed plugin(s) is/are modifying this character in some way: Either by changing his race or altering his dialogue. Under some conditions I have seen the bug being triggered by some mod assigning non-playable custom races to characters.

 

You can find out which mod is editing the character by loading all your plugins into 'TES4Edit': Upon start-up of this tool select all your mods (right-click > 'Select All') and give it some time to load. Enter Agronak gro-Malog's form ID 00037FF8 into the input line at the upper left corner and hit Return. In the right-hand window under the 'View' tab the software will list all instances of this character in columns, with the vanilla entries on the left side and any mod altering this NPC to the right. This at least will help you sort out which plugin is modifying the Gray Prince. You can then try deactivating this mod and test if the character is back to normal.

 

If only I knew how to change Agronak's dialogue options in 'TES4Edit'! Unfortunately I have never used the tool for this sort of thing yet...

Hopefully Fejeena or someone else savvy with this program is going to explain how to do it.

 

An example for a mod altering this NPC - the 'Unofficial Oblivion Patch'! Beneficient edits however in the case of the UOP.
