Will it mess up?

I was looking into getting a new PC.  Will it mess up my skyrim if I just migrate the HD its on now to the new PC?

Side question... That Demonica [Lilith / Lilith]  race I see.  Is it an actual race or will it mess up the body type and textures I already use?

Not sure on the first question since I haven't done it myself. Sorry.

But I do use Demonica and it is its own race. So in those profiles I still use a mixture of Top Model and UNP HDT for the NPCs. They also get decent textures. Demonica, as a race, has all its own stuff included and doesn't effect the rest at all. Heck, one of my MO profiles has both Demonica and SkyKids playing in it and even that doesn't effect anything else at all.

Chances are if you just migrate the hard drive and the OS is on the drive it likely won't work unless you reinstall the operation system. Migrating the files ( mods ) and the mod manager most of the time works however not always. If you do make sure to change settings of the mod manager ( if you change the set up of your new machine) to match. ( the folder settings) or you won't be able to access the mods files etc. Best to follow up on some threads r/t the mod manager you are using for more detail on this.

NMM should be able to be backed up and moved. Just make sure that  the file locations are pointing to the proper locations on your new machine.

Steam should also be able to be backed up and moved. ( Since Skyrim requires a valid Steam installation for legal copies)

Make sure have a backup of all your files and games etc. Then just copy it over to the new machine for best results. Trust me. If something goes wrong when you install the old drive in your new machine you might loose everything. Always backup those files. Worst case afterwards is you might have to reinstall a few mods.

Ok, so what If I just moved the Skyrim directory to the Hd in the new PC?  As I said I used NMM to install some mods but run SKSE directly from the skyrim directory,.  Would that make a difference?

It might and might not work. Depends on if you are lucky. ;). There are many things that can go wrong. However if you copy over the entire Steam/Skyrim/NMM etc directly from the old drive to the new drive it is likely to work. No guarantees. However if you mess up, you still have the original so that you can try again if/when you figure out any mistakes.

I have moved my Steam directory and such before and it worked provided I made sure that my manager ( at the time NMM, FOMM, OBBM) were redirected to the proper links using the settings. However recently I decided to move Steam from where it was to where I wanted it on another SSD. It worked fine for a while then acted up. When I uninstalled it etc. It deleted everything. There was somewhere a glitch. Closest thing I can figure out is Steam was still recognized in two locations. I cannot find anywhere on the web where anybody had the same or similar problem. This is just a case in point that anything and everything can go wrong so with a backup you always have all the original files.

You may have some issues with NMM, you will have to point it to the new location, export your load order in case it does something stupid, it enabled some disabled esp's when I did it. Steam should have no issues so long as you move the entire steam library folder, you will just need to tell Steam where it is.

Ok so it transferred fine.  But when using the launcher the options and the data files are greyed out.  The game loads up fine using both launcher and SKSE launcher.  But of course since it thinks no data files are enable nothing works.  The ENB works and its amazing to see the game look this good and not be molasses in deep winter slow.  So what could be causing the launcher to be acting strange?  I also copied over the Mygames directory from the old PC to the new one in case it was needed.

I just gave up and decided to reinstall skyrim on the new PC.  I guess this way I can start from scratch and remove a lot of the bloat mods I had that weren't really adding anything.
