ErroticFox Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I actually love starting a new game. The same weird way as I like restoring my computer. It's a nice, fresh start. The only annoyance I have is going through every mod and setting every option how I like it (which takes a hefty ~15 minutes). Anybody else that frequently restarts have this annoyance? (p.s. how do you switch your forum avatar?)
OldGuy879 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 what you are saying is pretty much standart for me how ever I am not annoyed by it though as it is a way to prevent corrupt of the fresh restarted game as for the avatar press your usernane up at the top of the page and going into "my settings"
ErroticFox Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 I know, it's just annoying setting the same settings after like the billionth time (figuratively speaking). Also, I looked all over in settings. I did not see anything about changing forum avatar.
OldGuy879 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 under my settinge -> profile Settings -> General Account Settings the fir one called photo that is the one that changes you profile avatar
Ashra XIII Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I am a chronic game restarter, so I've gotten pretty good at zipping through all the options and setting it all up how I like it. Still, I do wish more mods with lots of options would create a way to save profiles in the way that Sexlab and Immersive First Person do. Then I'd just have to choose a profile on each mod! Thing is, most mods don't really take much time to set up individually, it's just that there are so many of them! So profiles probably wouldn't help in many cases.
gvman3670 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I can just start a new profile in Mod Organizer. And it can have different mods than the rest of the profiles, too. Just one of the many great features of Mod Organizer. You guys would love the profile/saves system. And the virtual overwrites are freakin' awesome, too.
Nightmyste Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 well the thing is the original post was meant about starting a new GAME meaning that you have started the game and just created a new character, not where you've downladed new mods...
ErroticFox Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 well the thing is the original post was meant about starting a new GAME meaning that you have started the game and just created a new character, not where you've downladed new mods... Yes, this is what I meant. Like doing all the options via MCM. That's my annoyance.
enkephalin07 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Every save has an .ske file. Couldn't you just save a freshly started game, rename the last .ske saved from your previous game to that, and reload your save? I imagine that would hold all of your MCM settings.
mybrainhurts Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 @ ErroticFox Well, what's 15 minutes in the grand scheme of things? Actually, I wanted to compliment you on being so quick about it! It takes me ~ 30 mins or so. And I see your nice new avatar. I'm curious though ... what is it?

Not sure, will have to try that next time.
Killing Joke Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I restart quite often, setting up all options wouldn't be annoying if you didn't have to close options menu every so often because MCM needs to refresh itself, you cannot set all options for all mods at once and be done with it. Edit: wait, I'm stupid, just remembered this http://www.loverslab.com/topic/38341-is-it-even-possible-to-reach-level-80-with-a-heavily-modded-game/?p=967182 So, until now it was annoying to restart.

Tried that before, caused an instant CTD. I don't think it's intended to be used that way. I have a base save in qasmoke with all of the mods configured, the character created, and simply only change the recent mod changes every time I start a new character. Then, I throw my character into whatever cell I want to start in, and have at it. I do this not only so I don't have to use mods, but so I can roleplay different starting areas every time, with different starting stats. E.g most recently, I started in Alftand with 0 magicka and 0 on every spell, but dramatically decreased time between shouts.

"Place any FISS supporting mod after that" both those mods actually need compatibility for each mod, I don't think any mod on LL has those. @ ErroticFox Well, what's 15 minutes in the grand scheme of things? OldGuy879 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 to be honest I will stay with the old way I only have around 33 MCM mods to do no need for a extra headacke to be add in when the old way works for me
Killing Joke Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I'm gonna give it a try, experimenting with mods is my main pleasure with Skyrim.
