strange color issue devices/furnature

ok this is attempt 4 to post a freaking topic to here. I cant paste ANYTHING into this worthless text box and anytime I attempt to click any of the above icons to edit something or attempt to link an HTML it refuses to close the opened window and thus forces me to refresh the whole page.

now on to my actualy issue assuming I can get it all down b4 losing my cool again. I recently reinstalled skyrim totally. mods, client, everything. im currently sitting at around 140 mods. im not sure of an easy way to post all of that here because I sure as hell aint manually typing out 140+ lines of text. im also a complete virgin on the whole papyrus log, and checking it for errors.

my issue is that the greater majority of devious devices/furniture are being displayed in a bright almost neon pinkish/purple color. im sure it has something to do with 1 simple fire being over written by another or deleting a needed color skeem, but as an example every single slave from the hyd-slavegirls_811.7z811 are displayed being lead around in various restraints but they are all this pinkish/purple color. also I downloaded the revamped Alicia pain slut and all of her gear including the whip was all the same pinkish/purple color, even the big X furnature thing in the basement was also the same color.

if anyone know anything about this kinda issue or even has the time to explain to me how to use the papyrus log to further help diagnose this I would appreciate it. after I get this all setup I was hoping to run a backup so I don't have to worry about this kinda thing in the future too much.

best regards

pinkish/purple color means missing texture files or file paths are incorrect or texture files are in the incorrect place.

If you use MO (mod oraganizer instead of NMM you will not have to worry about making a backup of your skyrim game folder as MO uses a virtual game folder and any mods installed into it never get placed into your skyrim folder so your skrim folder will never get messed up. You can also make multiple virtual game folders for multiple skyrim games using MO. You can find MO on the nexus as well as here on LL.

Have you run LOOT to see if you have a load order issue?

if their in the wrong locations how do I solve that other than running boss/loot? as far as I know I didn't miss any required mods. I went one by one on the mods as I installed them to avoid missing any required mods or the required mods of required mods! I just have no idea why the textures would be MIA.

You load one of the nifs that is purple into nifskope go to render then settings and set up the file path to your skyrim folder and when you hit the data folder click it and hit ok any thing in your skyrim folder will render if they have texture files if not then they will be white in color. If a mesh like furniture uses skyrim texture then it will appear white. http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifTools

Click the outfit/armor piece and look for the line BSShaderTextureSet just below the highlighted line in the left hand list and click the little arrow to the left of it that will give you a drop down double click blank area left of the purple flower looking thing and it will drop down all texture paths. Then go to your skyrim texture folder and see if the skyrim texture path and the nifs texture paths are correct if they are then something else is causing it if they are incorrect then you can change the texture path in the nif to match the texture path in your skyrim folder. You can also search for the .dds file in your skyrim folder to see if it is there or missing.

Not all mods are put together with the best of care. I have had mods with missing textures/meshes and had to search for the mod that they came from I have also had incorrect texture paths in mods that I had to fix.

ok so anything that's got a bad texture file renders in white? but I thought the pinkish/purple color was because it was missing a texture file. is the color just plain random if its missing its texture file? also im going to go read up on this nif stuff and see if I cant make heads or tails of it.

If it is the items from ZAZ Animations the textures are in a separate file that you need to download and install.

does zaz animation include all the bondage devices such as everything from colars, to wooden blocks, gags, and funature like the large X structures. oddly the pillories are not affected but I think those were part of the game initially.

Yes, all those items are included in that.

well that makes my job a lot easier if its all in one. I thought I was going to have to go threw those 3 main DD mods and go one by one on every mod that was connected to them in any way. I didn't understand though how the DD could affect the furnature but meh.

so my first attempt was to simply uninstall zaz, and reinstall it. seemed like a simple enough idea. except.... now when I start the game it starts up with a black screen and stops. it doesn't even get as far as loading the Bethesda symbol or w/e. it just blows up full screen and goes black ... permanently. im guna play with it a bit to see if I cant figure out how to fix my over zealous fix.

In game items that are missing texture files are pinkish/purple color in nifskope they are white/grey. If a texture path in a nif doesn't match the folder texture path in your skyrim folder you will get white/grey you will also get white/grey if the texture file is a skyrim texture file because those are stored in the BSA file and will only render in game or if you extract the file from the BSA and place it into your skyrim texture folder using the correct texture path for it

ive been looking into the MO over the NMM but I currently have around 85ish mods setup through the steam workshop. right now Im waiting on skyrim to reinstall. that black screen I decribed was throwing me for a loop I got rid of it after completely uninstalling all the mods but then when I went to reinstall them it was telling me that I had to overwrite since they were already there, so I decided to just uninstall the game and fully delete the whole my document - skyrim file and the program files, steam skyrim file (yes I know I skipped several of the file path folders). I figured those were the only 2 skyrim folders I know of and if I delete them outright after a full uninstall. I can reinstall and use MO like u said and maybe avoid some of this back and forth in the end. would it be difficult to transfer the steam mods that will be being downloaded to the data folder directly as far as I know to the MO?

Steam Workshop Mods consist of a BSA file and an esp, move the BSA and esp file to a new folder and turn them into a zipped Archive. Once the Mod is converted to an Archive it can be installed through Mod Organiser, remember to unsubscribe from the Mod in Steam Workshop. I manually check if many of the Mods I use on a regular basis have been updated by visiting the Websites that host the Mod.

I prefer to use Wrye Bash/BAIN for inspecting Mods I have downloaded and converting the Mods into 7-Zip Archives. I turned both ZAP downloads into a single Archive, recompressed the Archive and then installed the Archive through Mod Organiser.

this is getting off topic of the original post so I think I might have to post a different topic and mark this one as solved, since I kinda nuked the whole thing and started over with myuhinny's suggestion about MO over NMM. right now im just kinda trying to figure out the in's and out's of the program as well as figure out how to incorporate steams workshop files since I have about 80 mods threw the workshop. I tried searching for the mods on nexus to see if I could just download them there and illuminate steam mods altogether but it turns out a lot of them arnt in the nexus so im not sure how to proceed with steam + MO. still working it and hopefully when I finaly piece skyrim back together it wont have the missing texture pink/purple stuff this time!

@richardrahl853

The post right above yours shows how to use steam mods since the mods from steam consist of only a BSA file and a .esp file you have to make a folder for each steam mod and place the BSA file and .esp for each steam mod in their own folder then rename the folder and use something like 7zip to zip the file up so each folder should have a BSA file and .esp that goes with the BSA file in it.

And as bradleyh stated once you zip them up you need to unsubscribe from them from the steam workshop.
