dje34 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Hey, guys ! Just wanted to update some mods today and needed to install the "new" FNIS v5.1.1, so I unchecked everything in my MO load order and started to update FNIS program and plugins... Problem occurs when I'm adding FNIS Spells v5.0.1 in my load order, when I click on Generate FNIS For Users here is what it tells me : ERROR(2015): Wrong subblock header or end, line: 8159 (templates\0_master_TEMPLATE.txt): ac Without FNIS Spells v5.0.1 in load order everything seems to be updated right... anyone got any idea what is going on ? Ok, it was because FNIS shortcut in MO was pointing to old FNIS exe file... But now I've got no more error but instead I have 2 warnings, is it important ?
Content Consumer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I've installed and uninstalled several animation mods at various times, and I've gotten anywhere from zero to four warnings. The game always works as advertised even with the warnings... but your mileage may vary. What are the FNIS warnings you're getting? Something about a missing HXM or something?

I never had to uninstall any mods to updated FNIS in MO. I still have other versions older versions in MO. Never even removed them. No problems. I see my alien friend that you figured out the next statement of making sure that the new updated FNIS had the correct shortcut etc through MO. I think we all need to know what warnings you are getting for FNIS. I got one warning / issue simply because I didn't click on FNIS in MO.. lol. Most of the warnings don't seem to effect the actual game play.
dje34 Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 First, thank you both for answering. Second, here is what FNIS tells me : 129 animations for 2 mods successfully included (character)2 Warning(s). >>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from a Skyrim installation directory.<< >>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from <Skyrim_Data>\Tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users.<<
Content Consumer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 You should be fine. I've never had a problem with the warnings FNIS gives. Have you played the game yet to see if everything's working properly?
dje34 Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 You should be fine. I've never had a problem with the warnings FNIS gives. Have you played the game yet to see if everything's working properly? I don't think it will work fine as it doesn't handle FNIS Creatures and FNIS Spells for the moment. I had no problem running the 'old' FNIS v5.0.1 exe file on my previous load order in another folder than Skyrim/Data/... Why is this FNIS v5.1.1 checking if the program is in the Skyrim/Data/Tools/... folder ? Did fore changed something about the path check?
Content Consumer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Heh... I just read the part about having two warnings, and didn't see the "bad installation" part, because I'm completely blind. Sorry about that. You are running this from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users right?

Sorry about that. You are running this from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users right? No, I'm not ! As it is a MO installation, I'm trying to let my Skyrim vanilla folders as clean as possible. There was only skse on my vanilla installation for the moment and everything was working well back with FNIS v5.0.1 EDIT - And you're not blind ! I just edited my post without telling you so...
Content Consumer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 O...kay. So I'm stumped. At this point I'd guess it's a MO problem and not a FNIS problem at all. The problem is I've never used MO, so I'm not qualified to guess. I turn the problem over to more knowledgeable people. Best guess: FNIS is supposed to run from the data/tools/fnis directory. If MO (is this how MO works?) is copying everything into different subdirectories for different profiles, FNIS is trying to find itself and can't. Solution based on best guess: Get rid of MO. Problem with solution: If you were using MO and an older version of FNIS before, and it didn't have any problems, this guess and solution are both irrelevant and everything I said can be completely ignored. In short, see line 5 above.

Morferous Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 FNIS is supposed to run from the data/tools/fnis directory. Content Consumer is correct. FNIS should be installed under Data folder, even when running it trough MO. There is no reason to cling on the thought of keeping Data folder clean as possible, when we are speaking about tools that are actually most stable there. Even my MO is in my Skyrim folder, so that it is recognized properly as "Skyrim Mod Organizer", as opposite for my Mod Organizer installations for other games using it. I have installed all tools to Data folder, so that paths are found properly. With 187 items in my load order, stability is not an issue. (FPS is another matter... *sigh*)
bradleyh Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I installed the entire FNIS 5.1.1. with Mod Organiser, and set MO to use the Executable from the 5.1.1 version of FNIS. Run FNIS, copy output from Overwrites into a new Mod, install new Mod. I just did exactly as the Video on S.T.E.P. instructs a MO User to do and it works correctly. I installed 5.02 perfectly, realised My mistake, but tried to run the current verion of Sexlab to see if the errors Posters were reporting were duplicatable. After testing I installed FNIS 5.1.1. I forgot to set MO to point to the FNIS Executable in 5.1.1, then got errors on loading My Save. I reset MO and ran FNIS with no problems. I usually use Wrye Bash and the shortcut I use in Skyrim\Mopy\Apps has never needed to be updated. Figuring out how MO works has not been that difficult, but I have been adding Mods to Bethesda Games since 2009. I hope this helps. EDIT You do have FNIS Behaviour Files active in the profile You are using? You can rearrage the Install Order of Your Mods in MO to clear many of the messages. I keep many SKSE Plugin Mods towards the very end of My Install Order, including Papyrus Utility v27 as well as XPMSE.
RitualClarity Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I think my fellow alien will have a better solution or at least a different one as we both use MO. Better Solution... not really however a different one.. At least I can confirm that you are not crazy and indeed FNIS is designed to be placed into MO's Mod folder and ran from there. FNIS is to be installed through MO and activated through MO. It isn't intended to be ran from the Data folder. From STEPS own page Fore's New Idles for Skyrim (FNIS) may be added in this manner: Click the gears button. This opens the Modify Executables window. In the Title field, type FNIS. For the Binary field, browse to your FNIS installation (should be located in <ModOrganizer>/mods/Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS/tools/GenerateFNIS_for_Users) and select the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe application. Click the Add button. This will add FNIS to your executables list. Click Close to close the dialog. It is installed correctly if installed properly thorugh MO. MO will place it with other mods properly and when you set up FNIS you navagate to the Fores folder and find "GenerateFNIS for Users file and click on it. Done. Now when you run it thorugh MO it will work with all the mods that that Profile has. Nothing is wrong with this. I have it as well. The following is my report on a just ran FNIS and active Profile. ( default if I remember correctly) FNIS Behavior V5.1.1 9/28/2014 8:49:04 PM Skyrim: 1.9.32.0 - D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim (Steam) Skeleton female: XPMS (242 bones) male: XPMS (242 bones) Patch: "GENDER Specific Animations" Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix" Reading FNIS V5.1.1 ... Now I had some problems with 5.11. have you moved the Steam or Skyrim Directory? MO or MO's directory. Is the "MOD" folder where MO placed it.. I am not sure of the problem I had before with Steam. I finally copied MO.. Deleted everything. Uninstalled everything games etc from Windows including Steam. Used CCleaner and cleaned all the registries then when I reloaded Steam, Skyrim and then transferred MO back it worked. I think it didn't like the movement I did with the files. I moved Steam from C: to D: etc. This messed up things. I believe somehow the game, manager or even FNIS was seeing that part of the game, steam or whatever wasn't where it was suppose to be so part of its protection against pirating it gave an error. I however could still play the game with very little issues. Those issues I did get might just have been more issues r/t the mods used intead of FNIS.. I hope that info above helped my fellow Alien.. Peace and see you at the end of the Universe. Thanks for all the fish and always remember to bring your towel..

I am aware that STEP recommends installing only basic behavior tool, but I consider it crippled practise. I can't see why we should agree with only partial installation, when we are talking about the use of tools that are allways called outside the game - disincluding FNIS Spell that is an ingame feature. This is why I can't see any sense of not installing full FNIS to Data folder. Of course, if others have no need for any extra features, then doing it like above is likely to be the best option for them.
RitualClarity Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 That is exactly what is instructed to be done because most people don't need the extra features of the "full" install. Mod authors might indeed need to install the entire thing into the data folder and set up outside of MO for compatibility. That I wouldn't know. I do know that the STEPS project way of installing the mod is clean, efficient and works providing something else isn't screwing around with the process. It is also very easy to upgrade as well. No mess and no fuss .. well except for my alien friend.
dje34 Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Ok, so after tweaking things up a bit (actually I just told to MO to start FNIS exe file in MO folder) here is what FNIS UI tells me : Skeleton female: Unknown (123 bones) male: Unknown (123 bones)Patch: "GENDER Specific Animations"Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix"Reading FNIS V5.1.1 ...Reading FNISBase V5.1.1 ...Reading FNISCreatureVersion V5.1 ...Reading FNISSpells V5.0.1 ( 0 furniture, 0 offset, 9 paired, 0 kill, 0 alternate animations) ...Reading SexLab V1.59b ...Reading SexLabCreature V1.59b ...Reading SexLabDefeat V?.? ...Reading ZaZAnimationPack V6.0.0 ( 26 furniture, 29 offset, 0 paired, 0 kill, 0 alternate animations) ...All Anim Lists scanned. ButchDiavolo Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 agrees. You can always try the "consistence check" for extra measure.
RitualClarity Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 322 animations for 1 mods and 18 creatures successfully included. That is the line I look for .. I get that line I am good to go.
