megadomonic Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 That truly is a shame, but I guess it can't be helped. I hope maybe someone will one day decide to make the race into Skyrim, or the original creator puts it in. I can't do it myself cause have not the experience nor intellect for doing those kinda things.
worksa7 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 People who doesnt release their mods but use mods from other modders... This =/
ahddubbuddah Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 *epic sad face* what?! why?! *sobs* ugh.....man....well at least i know it can be done now....*sighs* i wish he would release it though, i LOVE that race.... *is depressed now*
Tourman Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Maybe if more people asked he would be better inclined, but idk. It seemed like his thoughts were that it was supposed to be this super unique character no one else can have.
JSNi Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Seriously... I'm not releasing it because I've put many hours into creating it. Ya really, it isn't a blatant conversion, DUH. It looks way different from the original. Everything but the color map's lips and tattoo is my own. Time is something I don't have so yeah I won't share it because of that and I don't wanna add support for it.
mundaneunspeakable Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 yep, the texture work is well done but it as far as I can tell definately isn't a "port" or anything like that, it doesn't have the Moonshadow headmesh for starters. And I'll say it again: Skyrim's facial system is different from Oblivion/Fallout, it's not going to be easy if at all possible. Let's be realistic here.

As an earlier poster said since you did it, it means that it can be done so since the request is still open, someone will probably do it eventually. I mean, Skyrim doesnt have enough good-looking elf races not to. Great job though, I hope the person who eventually fulfills the request is inspired to do as good a job as you did.
Restlins Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Err so did he show people a mod he wasn't going to release....?
megadomonic Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Err so did he show people a mod he wasn't going to release....? Yep. Pretty much.
TheTraveler Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Err so did he show people a mod he wasn't going to release....? typical dick move btw. if you hav eno plans on sharing it don't upload photos of it. doing that just makes you more of a dick. its like saying ' i have something and you dont, NYAH NYAH NAYH!' a bit childish don't you think?
Seren Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Well, that's a bit of a harsh assumption, isn't it? I mean, in the Oblivion community there's a whole bunch of screenshooters with their own custom material, including myself. Are you saying ALL of them should share their mods, because you want to have what they do? Greed is an even more childish thing than what you just mentioned. It's more a matter of adding your own personal touch like people on, for instance, Deviantart do who show their material. A lot of screenshooters view their images as a form of art one way or another, and an artist simply doesn't give away their style because people demand it. Anyway, all I'm saying is. What are you getting worked up about? A game asset? I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of other awesome mods for you to download in the future. Just my two cents as a long-time screenshooter.

Shows it can be done. No need to be pissed off at this. Chillax and get on with life.
Jerbsinator Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 No doubt that Moonshadow Elves will be in Skyrim eventually, it was an extremely popular mod for Oblivion and there is going to be someone out there who will bring it to Skyrim. It is only a matter of time at this point.
ahddubbuddah Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 i can agree on both sides of this. on one hand, yea it is a bit of a dick move when its clear that people want something badly, and you go "oh hey, i have it, and i could distribute it, but im not going to since it is too time consuming" but on the other hand, i can agree with the thing of artists shouldnt have to share their art if they dont want to...just with things like mods, its just like, "really? come on." i mean, music and videos and other still art types that other than...idk, id say entertainment, but thats what mods are for, so idk, but art forms that people couldnt really use after it is completed i can understand, but mods people would use often and..yea idk, i can just see both sides of this. *shrugs*

Seren Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 @ahddubbuddah Yeah, I shouldn't have posted the guy's images here. Sorry I just wouldn't make it so hard on the guy, maybe he'll make something really pretty that he'll release in the future. He did say that it's far from a conversion and I can kinda see what he's getting at. The eyeshadow/liner style doesn't match the MSE, nor the overall look of the skin. The tattoo does, but the lips... I dunno... I guess they look alike, but the original MSE's were smaller. That means it's mostly his and just something that looks like MSE, mainly due to the tattoo. Kinda draws attention too, but I can't say I don't like the shots.

Just my two cents as a long-time screenshooter.[/quote'] I think the "dick" comment, was likely a knee-jerk reaction to the "duh" comment Aart posted, like he was talking to a group of complete idiots or something. Anyhow, I decided to take a break from working on the Mjana's Labyrinth mod today, and put this together in the CK for those who might be interested: Nightshade Elf Race: Comes in a variety of skintones: Milky white: Nightshade: Chocolate: Icymoon Blue: With various lighter and darker shades of each, 10 skintone shades in total (as of right now anyway). They share the Darkelf race trait, using ancestor's wrath, and can also command animals: Males are included as well (I'll be adding shots of them when I upload this). And in case anyone was wondering, the weight slider works: As well as custom hair/eye/brow add-ons: As far as I can tell, every slider (including presets) works as it normally would for the vanilla elf races, but with much more variation using add-on eyes, hair, brows, bodies, etc.. Basically, anything you download to use for a vanilla race, should also work for this race. However, the extended colors mod is incompatible. Nothing I tried makes it work. It does benefit from extended sliders though. I was able to apply just about every hair in my collection. There is a minor neck seam issue, but I think its a side-effect from the thalmor robe replacer I put on her. Meaning theres nothing but an .esp to download I have some starting stat adjustments to make (and maybe add a few more custom color shades). But if anyone's interested, I'll be adding it to the downloads section late tonight or tomorrow morning (depending on when I finish).

Trykz Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 What armor is that? It's a replacer for the thalmor robe... I don't remember which kit it was from' date=' but I'm fairly certain it was from right here on LL. ----------------------------------------------------------------- So now that I'm completely distracted and sidetracked from the Mjana's Labyrinth mod, I decided to scrap what I posted yesterday..... completely. That elongated elf chin was really bugging me. So I spent most of last night trying to work out a different option. Early this morning I decided enough was enough, and rummaged through EVERY head part I have (which is literally hundreds), trying to find ears that would work as an extra head part in the CK. I then determined the best race to base this on, would be a duplicate of the Breton race, for which I use Ran's round face headmesh (though any headmesh should work just as well). I added the elf eye set to go along with the ears, for those who prefer a "proper" elf appearance. This is what I have so far: [img']http://webpages.charter.net/trykzy/Newelfrace.jpg[/img] I just need to work out the texture path for the ears (so they match the head texture), add some custom color options to the default color set, and this is what I will release.

But I'll try a few meshes just to confirm.
Trykz Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 The ears on the vanilla Skyrim headmesh: and here they are on the Oriental headmesh: Setting up the tintset is proving to be a pain. Hopefully I can get it sorted today.
