MoonBernie Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 It is maybe a dumb question. But someone said once . ' Asking a question is a risk to be seen as an idiot. But not asking is a certainty to remain one. So i give it a go. I bought a new PC, And since I have about 200 mods installed. It took me days to clean them and make them work together properly. Allot of trying, screwing up and starting all over. Now i want to move the whole game with all the mods to my new PC. Is there a way to merge the whole thing into one installer. Is there somewhere a guide to create an installer?
CGi Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 This is more about reinstalling Skyrim thru Steam on your new PC and copying over the data folder, load order and settings files from the old PC. Settings: %UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Lord Order: %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Skyrim if you use MO, then nothing of this is needed, as you simply copy your MO installation + Mod folder (if setup differently) to your new PC.
Veladarius Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Install steam on the new PC and copy the entire Skyrim folder to the new location, just keep the path the same SteamLibrary\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim Once it is moved just tell Steam that is where it is located, I did the same thing when I moved Skyrim to a different drive on my PC.
CGi Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Working for a diff drive, but not for a new PC as he'll loose the load order (and settings ofc), which he tries to preserve if i understood the OP correctly.

So long as whatever folder the order is stored in is copied as well it should be good. The load order can also be exported by whatever Mod Manager then reloaded after the move.
CGi Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 As you overread it, he might overread it as well, so here it is again: Settings: %UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Load Order: %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Skyrim Or use a Mod Manager, ofc.
MoonBernie Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Thx , I'm donna try this. Problem is that the game became over 50 gb. I taught compressing it in a installer would save some time. Because I have to download it first on a external and than to my new hard drive... But I guess I have to wait a bit longer.
Mister X Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Why not just compressing the different folders with 7zip? On .7z file for your Mod Manager folder (hopefully Mod Organizer ^^), one for your SteamApps\common\Skyrim folder and one where the two settings files mentioned above go in. (just write down their filepath ) The .7z files will be smaller and so easier to transfer to your new computer where you just have to unpack them.
CGi Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Compessing 50GB with 7Z? Have fun. Having then an CRC error in the whole archive or one of it's parts? Have even more fun. Maybe even packaging it up in an installer like NSiS or such? Good luck.i recommend you switch to MO, to avoid things like this in the future. it's more work to begin with, but pays back greatly. Then again: if you didn't install fully manual, Wrye and NMM keep the mod archives from the mods you installed as MO does.Just install Skyrim, transfer the downloaded mods to the mod manager on your new PC, install them and then copy over the settings and load order to restore them. You'll still have to know the order in which you installed the mods in this case. Finished... even tho i still recommend switching to MO, unless you can't even if your life depends on it for whats-o-ever reason. P.s.: The settings folder contains all your save games as well, so you might want to copy the whole folder.
MoonBernie Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Thx... I may have to wait till the weekend. Because it takes to long to copy. And yesterday while the whole thing was copying, while I was away, on an external. the pc did shut down for some unknown reason.
