New CBBE - Revival of the CBBE maybe?

So anyone think CBBE will be getting some fresh love and conversions, with the recent update to both the body type and bodyslide/outfit studio to work with the XP32 Extended skeleton?

This new update doesn't seem all that much especially if you have been using CT77

The next planned update regarding higher poly mesh and further weight improving seems more interesting.

Yeah not familiar with CT77. Switched long ago from CBBE to UNP due to mods, particularly mashups, but even with unp/7b and so on, found myself BACK with CBBE. Just with it appearing to be renewed to catch up to the other body types, I am simply curious if anyone thinks this could lead to a revival of CBBE stuff.

I currently use CBBE HDT from bodyslide 2.1 and I noticed that in the deformation of breast and belly performs better than original CT77 HDT body.

one thing I never liked about the CBBE body...

hands

hands are too big...

they seem deformed... are larger than the head!

normally I solve the problem with racemenu hand sliders (set to 0.85), but during animations in third person as eating or drinking a potion, return to the value 1.00

is annoying...

if anyone has a solution?

tnks!  :D

Saeros, did you ever use the feminine hands for cbbe?

yep, have fingers thinner but they are the same size as the original CBBE..

if you look at the naked CBBE body in full view, the hands are huge..

are not proportionate..

Just increasing the polycount and improving the weightpainting may solve the ugly deformation issues that CBBE has but if people don't like the base mesh (and no amount of bodysliding will fix that) I doubt the state of CBBE will change much, it'll just have more polygons.

What deformation exactly? I know CBBE has a few issues in that regard, especially when it comes to TBBP/HDT. But every unp body that I've used has the same issues, butt and breasts are always kinda deformed in certain poses. Last but not least the UNP family has some bad issues when it comes the the elbows and knees.

CBBE has the same issues but even worse, like thighs looking completely dislocated in certain animations.

Have you tried the newer versions? Idk but for me personally the issues the unp bodies have are worse than what CBBE has. Knees and elbows look better to me, at least.

Can you explain what you mean by base mesh and what is it that body slide can't fix?

I was under the impression that CBBE can have a wide range of shape thanks to body slide (within reasonable limits), I have seen people using body slide to imitate an UNP shape with fairly decent results. But its lower poly and weight issue makes it more "jaggy" in spots and can't animate as well as UNP+variants. However if both of that could be improve it might be able to match UNP in that aspects.

I have no particular loyalty for shape, most of the popular ones, CBBE, UNP, UNPB, 7B are all fine with me.

What I do care is armor/clothing support and technical capabilities such as animation, tbbp, hdt, belly node, and general smoothness.

Alot of the CBBE women look like a BOTOX commercial gone horribly wrong. I'll stay with UNP.

I'm gonna let these pictures speak for themselves.

Pretty sure everyone should be able to see the obvious lack of detail on the CBBE mesh and no amount of bodyslide tweaking can currently fix that, it'll always lack that detail (which may be due to CBBE's rather low amount of polygons). Though even UNP based bodies pale in comparison to Demonica when it comes to mesh detail.

I see. I guess with higher poly and if the authors are willing to take advantage of it to add in some details it could add a little more flavor.

There's also normal map.

I actually find Demonica to be a little too extreme with the muscle tone.

This isn't gonna derail into another one of those unnecessary, body replacer elitist threads, isn't it?  Anyway, I'm happy to see that CBBE is still getting support with a much-needed update (v3.3).  I also notice that the body does deform better with certain animations.  And of course you can't go wrong with using BodySlide to create a custom body.  I wonder what CBBE v4 will bring to the table?

Nah, just curious what people are thinking. I was oriingally a CBBE guy, and went to UNP... enjoyed it for the longest time, but just fell back. Tried 7b and UNPB for the enhanced breasts sizes  but either were too extreme, or looked like bad implant jobs. It is also with the Bodyslide tool, i never noticed, but the ability to Zap things, I think would really add to it, but as a modder i wouldnt know. I am not that in depth into modding currently. Was ultimately just a base question of what everyone thinks.

That's what CBBE relies on when it comes to the details, not the mesh itself.  A body replacer isn't complete without textures either.  And Demonica has limited options when it comes to customization.

Afa's talking about topology. You can only do so much with detailed 2d maps and the object you wrap them around is the limiting factor. Demonica does lack options, but it demonstrates this very well.

Yeah I havent tried demonica yet, I downloaded what I think is the demonica body with some of the LB and DEM armors from modgames, but will have to wait till this week to give them a try.

But all the detail means jack shit (at least for me) when the weighting is screwed up. It annoys me to no end because I really like the bodies the UNP family has to offer but nobody ever seems to fix those darn issues. Only one I know that fixed at least the elbows is the UNPB body from the UNPB Redux mod. And possibly Halo's UNPC and UNPCM, but I don't use them really. Lack of support and no bounciness, though they look real nice.

Anyway, picture time:

Knees:

If these things would finally be fixed for a majority of the UNP bodies I'd switch over in a heartbeat. But I haven't really seen anybody trying to do that whereas CBBE got a lot of updates and fixes in the last couple of months. It's a shame, really.
